Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a News Videographer
Frame your reel for U.S. broadcast standards
U.S. news directors evaluate footage against FCC broadcast specs and network style guides. Structure your showreel around breaking news, live ENG, and stand-up sequences rather than documentary or branded content, which read as outside the core news videographer role.
Target network affiliates over digital-only outlets
ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox affiliates file LCAs regularly and have HR teams familiar with E-3 paperwork. Digital-native newsrooms often lack the internal process to sponsor a visa, so prioritize stations with existing DOL filing history.
Confirm your degree satisfies specialty occupation requirements
The E-3 requires a direct relationship between your degree field and the job duties. A three-year Australian journalism or communications degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's for specialty occupation purposes under USCIS policy.
Get a written job offer before the employer files anything
Your employer cannot file the LCA with DOL until a formal offer letter defines your title, duties, and salary. Secure the written offer first, then align on E-3 timeline, because the LCA must be certified before your consulate appointment can proceed.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and paperwork
News organizations frequently have no immigration counsel on staff. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the LCA submission, visa application prep, and consulate appointment preparation end-to-end, so neither you nor your employer stalls on unfamiliar paperwork.
Negotiate E-3 renewal cycles into your employment contract
E-3 status renews in two-year increments indefinitely, but each renewal requires a valid job offer and a new LCA. Ask your employer to include a commitment to sponsor renewals in your contract before you accept, not after your first two years expire.

Find News Videographer JobsNews Videographer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find News Videographer jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to find News Videographer roles listed with E-3 visa sponsorship. Many U.S. news organizations do not advertise sponsorship availability in their job postings, so filtering by E-3 eligibility saves time. Focus on network affiliates and established broadcast groups, which have the HR infrastructure to manage the LCA and consulate process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a News Videographer role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
Yes, when the position requires a bachelor's degree in journalism, film production, or a closely related field, it meets the specialty occupation standard. The key is that your employer's job description must specify a degree requirement, not just list it as preferred. Roles that accept any degree regardless of field are harder to qualify under USCIS specialty occupation criteria.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian news videographers?
The E-3 is available only to Australian nationals and has no annual lottery, so you can apply any time you have a job offer, not just during a specific registration window. The H-1B is subject to an 85,000-slot annual cap and a randomized lottery. For Australians in broadcast and news roles, the E-3 is the more reliable path because cap exhaustion is not a variable.
Can I switch news employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but each employer change requires a new LCA and a new visa stamp if you travel internationally. You can start working for a new employer once the LCA is certified and you have a valid E-3 petition, but you cannot carry your existing status from one news organization to another automatically. Plan the timing around your current visa expiry to avoid a gap in work authorization.
