Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a People Business Partner
Frame your HR credentials for U.S. specialty occupation
USCIS requires your degree to directly relate to the People Business Partner role. A bachelor's in human resources, industrial-organizational psychology, or business with an HR major satisfies this. A general commerce degree needs supporting documentation showing HR coursework.
Target companies with dedicated HR business partner functions
Mid-to-large technology, financial services, and professional services firms typically have standalone HRBP structures rather than generalist HR teams. These employers can write a job description that clearly meets the specialty occupation standard DOL requires for LCA certification.
Get your offer letter to specify HRBP duties explicitly
Vague titles like 'HR Manager' can create specialty occupation challenges. Your offer letter should itemise strategic partnering duties: workforce planning, organizational design, and talent consulting. This precision directly supports the LCA your employer files with DOL.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage LCA and consulate prep
The LCA must be DOL-certified before your consulate appointment, and the timing sequence matters. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the full workflow from LCA submission through DS-160 preparation so nothing stalls between your offer and your interview date.
Verify your employer can post the LCA public notice
DOL requires employers to post the LCA notice at the worksite for ten consecutive business days before certification. If you're in a hybrid or distributed role, confirm with your employer which physical location serves as your primary worksite and satisfies this requirement.
Prepare for consular questions about your reporting structure
Consular officers assess whether People Business Partner roles genuinely require a degree. Be ready to explain who you report to, which business units you support, and how your work differs from transactional HR functions. Concrete examples of strategic projects strengthen your case.

Find People Business Partner JobsPeople Business Partner E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find People Business Partner jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for E-3 visa sponsorship roles in the U.S. It filters People Business Partner positions by employers who have E-3 or H-1B filing history, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with Australian work visa requirements. Start your search there before approaching employers directly.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a People Business Partner role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as human resources, organizational psychology, or business administration with an HR specialization. The role must involve strategic HR work, such as organizational design, workforce planning, or talent management, rather than purely administrative or generalist HR tasks. A well-scoped job description is what typically determines approval.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian HR professionals?
The E-3 is substantially more practical for Australians in People Business Partner roles. There is no annual lottery, no cap backlog, and the timeline from offer to approval is typically weeks rather than months. H-1B requires surviving a random lottery with roughly a one-in-five chance of selection before any petition is even reviewed. The E-3 specialty occupation standard is the same, so the qualification bar is equivalent.
Can I transfer my E-3 if I change People Business Partner roles or employers?
Yes, but each new role requires a fresh E-3 process, including a new LCA certified by DOL and a new visa stamp if your current one has expired. If you're moving to a similar HRBP function at a new employer and your visa is still valid, you can start the new role once the new LCA is certified, without waiting for a full visa reissue at a consulate.
