Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Platform Engineering Lead
Map your degree to the role
U.S. consular officers assess whether your Australian degree directly supports a Platform Engineering Lead position. A three-year bachelor's in computer science or software engineering is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but document the equivalency clearly in your application materials.
Target employers with active LCA history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify companies that have filed LCAs for platform engineering or infrastructure lead roles. Employers already familiar with the LCA process move faster and make fewer errors when sponsoring E-3 applications.
Clarify sponsorship before the offer stage
Ask hiring managers whether their legal or HR team has handled E-3 sponsorship before, not after, you receive an offer. Many U.S. employers confuse the E-3 with the H-1B lottery process and assume sponsorship is unavailable. Clarifying this early prevents last-minute withdrawals.
Get the LCA certified before your interview
Your employer must file and receive a certified LCA from the DOL before you can attend your consular interview. DOL certification typically takes around seven business days, so coordinate this step well before your scheduled appointment to avoid rescheduling delays.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Platform engineering roles involve detailed specialty occupation documentation that employers often get wrong on their first attempt. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles your LCA filing, visa paperwork, and consulate preparation end-to-end, reducing the risk of a request for additional evidence.
Prepare a specialty occupation justification letter
Consular officers can request evidence that a Platform Engineering Lead role genuinely requires a specialized degree, not just general technical experience. Work with your employer to draft a letter explaining why the position demands theoretical and practical expertise in a specific engineering discipline.

Find Platform Engineering Lead JobsPlatform Engineering Lead E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Platform Engineering Lead jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 visa sponsorship. You can search Platform Engineering Lead positions by company, location, and sponsorship history without wading through listings from employers unfamiliar with the E-3 process. It's the most direct way to connect with companies already set up to sponsor Australian engineers.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000â$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Platform Engineering Lead role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. Platform Engineering Lead positions require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, which satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation definition. The key is that your employer's job description must tie the degree requirement to the specific technical responsibilities of the role, not list it as a preference.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Platform Engineering Lead roles?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation reserved exclusively for Australian citizens, and that cap has never been reached, so there's no lottery. The H-1B lottery means most applicants are rejected before their application is even reviewed, regardless of qualifications. For an Australian platform engineering professional, the E-3 is a far more predictable path to starting a U.S. role.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a Platform Engineering Lead?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need to attend a new consular interview or, in some cases, apply for a change of status if you're already in the U.S. There's no portability provision like the one available to H-1B holders, so plan for a four to six week transition window between your offer and your start date.
