Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Mobile Developer
Frame your Australian degree for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's in computer science or software engineering satisfies E-3 visa specialty occupation requirements. Get a credential evaluation letter confirming U.S. equivalency before interviews so employers aren't left guessing about your qualification.
Target companies with existing LCA filing history
Search DOL's public LCA disclosure data for employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for software or mobile development roles. Companies already familiar with LCA certification move faster and rarely push back on E-3 sponsorship for technical hires.
Separate the E-3 from H-1B in employer conversations
Many hiring managers assume visa sponsorship means H-1B lottery risk. Clarify upfront that E-3 has no cap and no lottery, so there's no chance of losing your start date to an annual selection event.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the post-offer process
Once you have an offer, the LCA, DS-160, and consulate prep must move quickly. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, so nothing stalls between signing and your first day.
Verify the job description ties your role to a degree field
USCIS requires that the LCA job description demonstrate a specific degree requirement, not just a preference. Ask your employer to confirm the posting says 'bachelor's degree required in computer science or equivalent' before filing begins.
Plan your consulate appointment around app store release cycles
If you're mid-sprint on a product launch, time your consulate interview to avoid the two weeks before a major release. Australian consulates in Sydney and Melbourne typically schedule within a few weeks, but processing can run up to 15 business days after your interview.
E-3 Visa Mobile Developer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Mobile Developer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that include E-3 sponsorship. Rather than filtering through general job boards, you can search by role and see employers who are open to E-3 hires. Narrowing your search to companies with LCA filing history for software or mobile development roles significantly improves your odds of a straightforward sponsorship conversation.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Mobile Developer role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as computer science, software engineering, or mobile computing. The key test is whether the role genuinely requires that theoretical and practical knowledge, not just whether you happen to hold a degree. Generic job listings that say 'degree preferred' rather than 'degree required' can create problems at the LCA or consulate stage.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for Mobile Developer roles?
The E-3 has a significant structural advantage for Australian nationals: there is no annual lottery. H-1B registrations are entered into a random selection each April, and even cap-exempt employers face constraints. E-3 applications can be filed year-round, processed in weeks rather than months, and renewed indefinitely in two-year increments. For a mobile developer with a firm offer, the E-3 path is faster and more predictable at every stage.
Can I switch mobile development jobs while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but you need a new LCA certified by DOL and updated visa documentation tied to the new employer before you start work. The E-3 is employer-specific, so your authorization from your previous employer doesn't carry over. If you're already in the U.S., your new employer files a fresh LCA and you may need to attend a consulate interview to get a new E-3 stamp if your current one expires before the transition.
