The team applies advanced statistical techniques, financial theory, and data science to transform data into scalable, well-governed solutions that enable informed investment decision-making.
The Impact
As an Investment Product Consultant, your responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

- Partner with Portfolio Managers and Quantitative Research to understand workflows, user needs, and analytical requirements.
- Assess investment processes, methodologies, and data needs to define product capabilities and priorities.
- Research, design, and document portfolio management and analytics solutions.
- Translate business and quantitative requirements into scalable, maintainable solution designs.
- Evaluate trade-offs, dependencies, and risks; contribute to design reviews with engineering and QRD.
Delivery & Execution
- Support applications through the full delivery lifecycle in an Agile/DevOps model.
- Contribute to estimates, test strategy, and implementation planning.
- Participate in testing analytics, portfolio calculations, and data transformations.
- Ensure solutions meet performance, reliability, and usability expectations.
- Identify issues early and partner with stakeholders to drive resolution.
Data, Analytics & Architecture
- Work with data-centric architectures, including multi-dimensional and time-series investment data.
- Maintain data integrity and transparency across portfolio views and analytics.
- Analyze large data sets to support validation and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate on APIs, services, and platform components that enable analytics use cases.
Collaboration & Professional Growth
- Build strong working relationships across Quantitative Research, Portfolio Management, and Technology.
- Communicate clearly with both technical and investment audiences.
- Propose improvements to analytics, tooling, and delivery practices.
- Grow your product thinking, technical depth, and investment domain knowledge.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, financial engineering, mathematics, quantitative finance, information technology or related field
- 3+ years of experience designing and delivering complex technology solutions.
- 3+ years of experience supporting front-office investment or quantitative analytics platforms.
- 2+ years of experience working with investment data models and analytics-driven systems.
- 2+ years of experience with standard documentation and analysis tools (Visio, Excel, Word).
Ideal Qualifications
- Master's degree in computer science, financial engineering, mathematics, quantitative finance, information technology or related field
- CFA or demonstrated progress toward CFA designation
- 5+ years designing and delivering complex technology solutions
- 5+ years supporting front-office investment or quantitative analytics platforms (e.g., Aladdin or similar).
- Strong understanding of portfolio management concepts, investment analytics, financial instruments, and the trade lifecycle across a range of asset classes.
- Demonstrated experience designing analytics-focused, portfolio-oriented tools; strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of Agile/DevOps and SDLC practices (e.g., Jira, Confluence) and strong data analysis skills using modern tooling and BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Proficiency with product/project documentation (e.g., charters, business requirements, milestone planning) and comfort operating with limited guidance while proactively communicating progress and risks.
- Clear, collaborative communication style and ability to work independently on complex problems.

Frame your credentials around specialty occupation
U.S. consular officers assess whether your role genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Prepare a credential summary that links your Australian degree directly to the product consulting duties described in your offer letter, not just your job title.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's Labor Condition Application disclosure data to identify employers who have previously filed LCAs for product or consulting roles. Prior filings signal that HR and legal teams already understand the E-3 visa process, reducing delays during offer negotiation.
Clarify the specialty occupation requirement early
Product Consultant is a broad title. Before accepting an offer, confirm the role requires a specific technical or business degree, not a generic four-year credential. Roles framed as general advisory work can face pushback at the consulate, so align the job description to degree-specific duties upfront.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA
The LCA must be DOL-certified before you can attend your consulate appointment. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so the employer-side steps are completed accurately and without delays that push back your start date.
Negotiate employer support before signing
Unlike H-1B, the E-3 doesn't require USCIS petition approval, but your employer still files the LCA and supports your consulate application. Confirm in writing that your offer includes sponsorship support, including who manages government filings and covers associated fees, before you resign your current role.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your interview
E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa, so consular officers may probe your ties to Australia. Bring documentation of ongoing Australian connections alongside your employment offer, certified LCA, and degree transcripts to address intent questions directly and avoid administrative processing delays.
E-3 Visa Product Consultant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Product Consultant jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to filter Product Consultant roles by E-3 sponsorship history. Most general job boards don't surface whether an employer has filed E-3 or LCA paperwork before, which means you spend time on companies unfamiliar with the process. Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers with documented sponsorship activity, so your outreach focuses on realistic opportunities.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Product Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. A Product Consultant position qualifies as a specialty occupation when it requires applying a body of theoretical and practical knowledge normally acquired through a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as business, computer science, or engineering. Generalist consulting roles that accept any degree regardless of field are more likely to face scrutiny at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Product Consultant roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no numerical cap, so you can apply at any time of year once you have a job offer and a certified LCA. H-1B selection is lottery-based, meaning most applicants are rejected regardless of qualifications. For Australian Product Consultants, the E-3 eliminates the lottery risk entirely and allows two-year renewals without a cap ceiling.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a Product Consultant?
Yes, but you need to restart the process with each new employer. The E-3 is employer-specific, so your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and support a new visa application. You don't need to return to Australia to switch, but you'll need a new E-3 stamp before your next international trip if your current visa stamp reflects the previous employer.
