Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Professional Learning Specialist
Frame your Australian credentials for U.S. reviewers
A three-year Australian bachelor's in education meets the E-3 visa degree requirement, but U.S. hiring managers may question it. Attach a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service to your application so employers don't pause at the sponsorship stage.
Target employers with existing E-3 filing history
Search DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data to identify school districts, universities, and corporate L&D teams that have filed E-3 LCAs for instructional roles before. Prior filing history means the HR team already understands the process.
Clarify the LCA requirement early in negotiations
Many U.S. employers confuse the E-3 LCA with a full PERM labor certification and assume the process takes years. Explain upfront that DOL certifies the LCA within days, not months, so sponsorship doesn't stall your offer.
Use Migrate Mate to handle your filing end-to-end
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork. This removes the administrative burden from your new employer, which is often the reason sponsorship conversations fall apart at the final stage.
Align your role description to DOL specialty occupation language
Your job offer letter must describe duties that require a specific bachelor's degree. Generic titles like 'trainer' can raise USCIS scrutiny. Ask your employer to specify the degree field required so the specialty occupation threshold is clearly met.
Prepare for consulate questions about nonimmigrant intent
Consular officers assess whether you intend to return to Australia after your E-3 status ends. Bring documentation of Australian ties, such as property, superannuation, or family, alongside your offer letter and certified LCA to your interview appointment.
E-3 Visa Professional Learning Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Professional Learning Specialist jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Professional Learning Specialist roles at employers who have E-3 and H-1B visa filing history, so you're not cold-applying to organizations unfamiliar with visa sponsorship. Filtering by sponsorship history is the fastest way to identify which school districts, edtech companies, and corporate L&D teams are realistic targets.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Professional Learning Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
Yes, provided the position requires a specific bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, curriculum development, or a closely related field. The role must not be one where any general degree would satisfy the requirement. If the job posting lists a degree preference rather than a requirement, ask the employer to revise the offer letter language before the LCA is filed with DOL.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Australian professionals in this role?
The E-3 has no lottery, no annual cap backlog for Australians, and can be filed directly at an Australian consulate without waiting for a USCIS approval cycle. For a Professional Learning Specialist role, that means your employer can sponsor you year-round. The H-1B requires winning a random lottery draw, with most applicants waiting six to twelve months before entering the country even after selection.
Can I transfer my E-3 status if I change employers within the professional learning field?
Yes, but the E-3 is employer-specific, so your new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new visa stamp if you've left the U.S. There's no portability provision equivalent to H-1B's AC21 rule. You cannot start work with the new employer until the new LCA is certified by DOL and the consulate issues a new E-3 visa.
