Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a QA Automation Engineer
Frame your degree for specialty occupation
U.S. consular officers assess whether your Australian bachelor's degree aligns with QA automation work. A three-year computer science or software engineering degree is generally accepted, but a business or unrelated degree paired with QA experience may need a credential evaluation letter.
Target employers with active E-Verify enrollment
Your employer must file an LCA with DOL before you can apply for the E-3 visa. Employers already enrolled in E-Verify have typically completed the compliance groundwork, so they move faster once they agree to sponsor your visa.
Separate your job offer from your visa application
The E-3 requires a job offer before you apply, but you apply at the consulate, not through USCIS. Once your employer has a certified LCA, you can book your Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth appointment independently without waiting on a petition approval.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and consulate prep
LCA errors or mismatched prevailing wage classifications are common reasons QA Automation Engineers face delays. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so your consulate appointment moves forward without document issues.
Highlight automation tool depth in your application materials
Spell out specific frameworks you work in, Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or TestNG, on your resume and in your offer letter's job description. Consular officers verify that your role genuinely requires specialized knowledge, and vague job titles get more scrutiny.
Clarify E-3 renewal terms before accepting the offer
The E-3 is issued in two-year increments with no cap on renewals, but it's employer-tied. Confirm with your employer that they're willing to file a new LCA at each renewal cycle, not just at the initial hire stage.
E-3 Visa QA Automation Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find QA Automation Engineer jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Most job listings don't specify which visa types an employer will sponsor. Migrate Mate filters roles by employers with E-3 sponsorship history so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the process. Search for QA Automation Engineer positions directly on Migrate Mate to see roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring conversation.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a QA Automation Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as computer science, software engineering, or information technology. Roles that accept any degree or list the degree as preferred rather than required are harder to qualify. Your offer letter's job description should explicitly state the degree requirement and the technical nature of the work.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for QA Automation Engineers?
The E-3 has a 10,500-slot annual allocation that has never been fully used, so there's no lottery and no registration fee. The H-1B visa has an 85,000-slot cap with a competitive lottery that selects only a fraction of applicants each year. For Australian QA professionals, the E-3 is a direct path to a consulate appointment once your employer files a certified LCA, with no random selection involved.
Can I switch employers while on an E-3 as a QA Automation Engineer?
You can change employers, but you need a new LCA certified by DOL and a new visa stamp before you start with the new company. Unlike the H-1B, there's no portability rule that lets you begin work under a pending petition. If you're already in the U.S., you'll typically need to leave and attend a consulate appointment abroad before starting the new role.
