Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an IT Manager
Frame your credentials for U.S. specialty occupation
Your Australian three-year bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before applying, so employers don't flag it as a gap during the LCA process.
Target employers with active IT infrastructure teams
Focus on organizations that run internal IT departments rather than outsourcing to managed service providers. In-house IT teams are far more likely to file an LCA for an IT Manager than companies that contract out their technology operations.
Distinguish IT Manager from general management in your resume
Your resume must demonstrate that the role requires a specific technical degree, not just management experience. Highlight technical domains you oversee, network architecture, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity compliance, so the DOL LCA clearly supports the specialty occupation requirement.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and consulate prep
The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from LCA submission through consulate preparation, so neither you nor your employer needs to navigate DOL's FLAG portal independently.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your interview
IT Manager roles attract more consular scrutiny on immigrant intent because they're senior positions. Bring documentation of your ties to Australia, property, family, professional registrations, alongside your offer letter and LCA to address officer questions directly.
E-3 Visa IT Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find IT Manager jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. Standard job platforms surface roles without filtering for visa type, so you spend significant time on employers who won't file an LCA. Migrate Mate surfaces IT Manager positions from employers who have demonstrated willingness to sponsor E-3 applicants, cutting out that filtering work.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does the IT Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as information technology, computer science, or information systems. The DOL and USCIS look at whether the degree is a standard entry requirement for the role, not just preferred. Roles where a general business degree would suffice may face LCA scrutiny, so your job description should specify technical degree requirements.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for IT Manager roles?
For Australian nationals, the E-3 is a significantly more predictable path than the H-1B. The H-1B requires entering an annual lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate, while the E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap. Both require an LCA and employer sponsorship, but E-3 applicants can move from offer to visa stamp in weeks rather than waiting for a lottery result and USCIS adjudication that can stretch past a year.
Can I change employers after arriving in the U.S. on an E-3?
Yes, but your E-3 status is tied to a specific employer and role. When you change jobs, your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need to obtain a new E-3 visa stamp before or after the transition. If you're already in the U.S., you can change employers once the new LCA is certified, but you cannot work for the new employer until that certification is in place.
