Translate your Australian credentials early
U.S. employers assess degrees differently than Australian universities do. A three-year Australian bachelor's is generally accepted as equivalent to a four-year U.S. degree under E-3 visa rules, but your offer letter and LCA must reflect a specific qualifying field, not just general business.
Target multi-site employers with compliance teams
Regional operations roles at companies with multiple U.S. locations are far more likely to have in-house HR or legal teams familiar with LCA filing. Distribution networks, logistics firms, and national retail operators regularly hire at this level and understand the E-3 process.
Verify the role qualifies as a specialty occupation
Not every operations manager title clears the specialty occupation bar. Confirm the job description requires a degree in a specific field, not just any bachelor's degree. Roles framed around general management with no field-specific requirement can draw USCIS scrutiny at the consulate.
Ask about LCA timing before accepting an offer
Your employer must file a certified LCA with DOL before you can apply at the consulate. Certification typically takes seven business days, but delays happen. Negotiate your start date with that window in mind so you're not locked into an arrival date before paperwork clears.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to coordinate documents
Regional operations roles often involve complex reporting lines and multi-site responsibilities that require careful LCA drafting. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the LCA, visa paperwork, and consulate preparation so nothing falls through during the offer-to-approval window.
Address multi-state scope in your visa application
If your role covers operations across several states, your LCA must reflect the correct prevailing wage for the worksite with the highest wage requirement. DOL requires a separate LCA for each worksite state, which your employer needs to plan for before filing.
E-3 Visa Regional Operations Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Regional Operations Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that include E-3 visa sponsorship. Rather than filtering through general job boards where sponsorship details are buried or missing, Migrate Mate surfaces employers with active E-3 hiring history for operations and management roles, saving you from applying to companies that won't sponsor.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Regional Operations Manager role qualify for an E-3 visa?
It depends on how the role is structured. USCIS requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it must normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business administration, supply chain management, or industrial engineering. Roles framed as general management without a field-specific degree requirement can face challenges, so the job description wording matters significantly.
How does the E-3 visa compare to H-1B for Regional Operations Manager positions?
The E-3 has no annual lottery, so you can apply any time of year once you have an offer and a certified LCA. H-1B visa registrations are capped at 85,000 per year and selected by lottery, meaning qualified candidates are regularly shut out. For operations managers with a qualifying Australian degree and a U.S. job offer, the E-3 is a significantly more predictable path.
Can I cover multiple states in a Regional Operations Manager role on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but your employer must file a separate LCA with DOL for each state where you'll work regularly. The prevailing wage on each LCA must meet the DOL standard for that specific location. If your role involves short-term travel to various sites, a single-state LCA may suffice, but permanent multi-state responsibilities require multiple filings before your consulate appointment.
