Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a People Operations Manager
Frame your HR credentials for U.S. specialty occupation standards
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees in HR, business, or organizational psychology satisfy the E-3 visa degree requirement. Gather your transcripts and, if your degree title differs from U.S. norms, get a credential evaluation that explicitly maps it to a U.S. bachelor's.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs for HR or People Operations roles. Employers already familiar with the LCA process are far less likely to abandon sponsorship due to paperwork concerns.
Address the specialty occupation question before your interview
Some recruiters assume People Operations roles don't qualify because they seem generalist. Be ready to explain that the E-3 requires a degree in a directly related field, and that a bachelor's in HR or organizational psychology satisfies DOL's specialty occupation standard for this role.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have an offer, your employer needs to file an LCA with the DOL before you can attend your consulate appointment. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, so neither you nor your employer has to navigate it alone.
Negotiate offer timing around LCA certification windows
The DOL typically certifies LCAs within seven business days, but your consulate appointment adds additional lead time. When negotiating your start date, build in at least three to four weeks after offer acceptance to allow for LCA certification and scheduling.
Prepare documentation that ties your experience to the specific role
Consular officers assess whether your background matches the position. Bring your offer letter, a role description that references required qualifications, and evidence of your HR work history, including any HRIS platforms, workforce planning projects, or compliance programs you've managed.
E-3 Visa People Operations Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find People Operations Manager jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by job title and see which employers have a history of sponsoring visa holders. Generic job boards don't surface sponsorship status, so you can spend weeks applying to roles where the employer has never considered an E-3 filing.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a People Operations Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as human resources, organizational psychology, or business administration. The key is that the position description must specify a degree requirement, not merely prefer one. Roles framed as generalist management without a stated degree requirement can raise scrutiny at the DOL's LCA review stage.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for People Operations Manager roles?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply any time of year and your offer doesn't depend on a random draw. The H-1B visa cap-subject lottery rejects roughly two-thirds of registrants before any merit review. For People Operations roles, the E-3 is a more reliable path for Australian nationals because approval depends on the role and your credentials, not chance.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a People Operations Manager?
Yes, but you need to start the process fresh with the new employer. There's no portability mechanism like the one available under H-1B. Your new employer must file a new LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp for consular processing, or a new I-94 if you're changing status within the U.S. Plan for a gap between roles accordingly.
