Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Safety Intern
Frame your degree for specialty occupation
Safety internships must require a specific bachelor's degree to meet E-3 specialty occupation standards. Reframe your Australian OHS or environmental science degree using U.S. equivalency language before approaching employers, so your credentials map cleanly to the role.
Target employers with active DOL LCA history
Search the DOL's OFLC disclosure database for employers who have filed LCAs for safety or environmental roles. These companies already understand the E-3 process, which removes the friction of educating HR from scratch.
Raise E-3 sponsorship before the offer stage
Safety internship hiring moves fast, especially at construction and energy firms. Confirm the employer is willing to file an LCA during your first substantive interview, not after you've completed multiple rounds and they're emotionally invested in you.
Clarify your degree equivalency with USCIS criteria
Australian three-year OHS degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year bachelor's degrees under USCIS specialty occupation rules. Document this explicitly in your application package, since consular officers vary in how they assess foreign credentials.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA paperwork
The LCA must be certified by DOL before your visa interview, and errors in wage level or SOC code selection delay everything. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so the filing is done correctly the first time.
Verify your employer's E-Verify enrollment before accepting
Some safety internship employers, particularly smaller contractors, are not enrolled in E-Verify. Federal contractors are required to use it, which affects your ability to maintain work authorization. Confirm enrollment status before you accept any offer.

Find Safety Intern JobsSafety Intern E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Safety Intern jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Most general job boards don't filter by visa type, so finding E-3 sponsors requires a targeted approach. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter Safety Intern roles by employers who have E-3 or LCA filing history. That narrows your list to companies already familiar with Australian visa sponsorship, saving you from cold outreach to employers who will decline.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Safety Intern role actually qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
It depends on how the role is defined. A Safety Intern position qualifies when the employer requires a bachelor's degree in occupational health, environmental science, safety engineering, or a directly related field. Roles where any degree is accepted, or where no degree is required, will not meet the specialty occupation standard. The job description wording matters, and your employer's LCA filing must reflect the degree requirement accurately.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for Safety Intern roles?
The E-3 is available year-round with no lottery, no cap backlog, and a straightforward two-year renewable approval cycle. H-1B applications are capped at 85,000 annually and go through a randomised lottery with a selection rate well under 50%. For an Australian professional in a Safety Intern role, the E-3 is a structurally faster and more predictable path, provided the role meets specialty occupation requirements.
What happens to my E-3 status if my safety internship ends early?
Your E-3 status is tied to the specific employer and role listed on your approved LCA and visa. If the internship ends before your visa period expires, your authorisation to work for that employer ends immediately. You have a 60-day grace period to find a new qualifying employer, have them file a new LCA, and either change status or depart and reapply at a U.S. consulate before resuming work.
