Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Operations Intern
Frame your Australian degree for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 purposes. Include your transcript and a brief credential summary in your application to preempt any qualification questions from hiring managers unfamiliar with Australian education.
Target companies already filing LCAs
Search the DOL's public LCA disclosure data for employers who have previously certified Labor Condition Applications for operations or business analyst roles. These employers already understand the E-3 filing process and are far less likely to withdraw an offer due to sponsorship concerns.
Search specifically for E-3 sponsorship roles
Use Migrate Mate to filter operations intern roles by employers with active E-3 sponsorship history. Generic job boards surface roles without visa context, so you waste time applying to positions where sponsorship was never on the table.
Clarify internship structure before the offer stage
The E-3 requires a legitimate employer-employee relationship, so unpaid internships or highly autonomous project roles can complicate LCA certification. Confirm with the hiring team that the role is paid, supervised, and tied to a defined business function before your offer letter is drafted.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your paperwork
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. The LCA must be DOL-certified before your consulate appointment, and errors in the job duties or wage attestation are the most common cause of delays.
Book your consulate appointment before your start date is set
E-3 consulate wait times at Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth fluctuate significantly. Confirm appointment availability before agreeing to a start date with your employer so you're not locked into a timeline you can't meet without premium processing or a rescheduled interview.

Find Operations Intern JobsOperations Intern E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Operations Intern jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search operations intern roles filtered by employers with E-3 sponsorship history. Most generic job boards don't distinguish between employers willing to sponsor and those that aren't, so you spend time on applications that go nowhere. Migrate Mate surfaces roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring picture.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Operations Intern role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but the role description matters. The E-3 requires the position to theoretically or practically require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. An operations intern role tied to supply chain management, industrial engineering, or business analytics is more defensible than a generalist internship. Vague job duties like 'supporting the operations team' without a degree requirement specified in the posting can create problems at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for an Operations Intern role?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens and has no lottery, no annual cap, and no registration fee. The H-1B is open to any nationality but enters a randomized lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate. For an Australian professional, the E-3 is a direct path to working in the U.S. without any lottery risk, and it can be renewed every two years without limit as long as you maintain qualifying employment.
Can I convert my E-3 to a different visa status after my internship?
Yes. If your employer converts the role to a full-time position, you can renew your E-3 for that new role without leaving the U.S. by filing a change of status with USCIS, or exit and re-enter on a new E-3. If you want to pursue permanent residency, your employer would need to sponsor a separate green card process, as the E-3 does not lead directly to a green card on its own.
