Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 purposes. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before interviews so employers don't stall on degree equivalency questions.
Target enterprises with dedicated IT infrastructure teams
Large financial services firms, healthcare networks, and cloud-heavy tech companies routinely file LCAs for systems administrator roles. These employers already understand prevailing wage obligations under DOL rules, which shortens the sponsorship conversation significantly.
Search E-3 sponsorship jobs on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Senior Systems Administrator roles where employers have confirmed E-3 sponsorship. The platform surfaces roles by visa type, saving you from applying to positions where the employer has never sponsored an Australian national.
Frame your job offer around specialty occupation criteria
The E-3 requires your role to meet the specialty occupation standard. Ensure your offer letter specifies that a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical field is a minimum requirement, not just preferred.
Confirm LCA filing timing before you resign overseas
Your employer must file and receive a certified LCA from DOL before you can apply for your E-3 visa at the consulate. Standard DOL processing runs about seven business days, but build extra time into your start date to avoid gaps.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This is especially useful for systems administrator roles where job duties span multiple functions and the specialty occupation write-up needs precision.

Find Senior Systems Administrator JobsSenior Systems Administrator E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Senior Systems Administrator jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for Senior Systems Administrator roles where employers have confirmed E-3 visa sponsorship. Many employers are willing to sponsor but don't advertise it, and Migrate Mate filters by visa type so you're targeting companies already prepared to file an LCA and support your application through the consulate stage.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Senior Systems Administrator role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as computer science, information systems, or information technology. Roles where any general degree is acceptable, or where extensive experience substitutes entirely for a degree, can face scrutiny. Your offer letter and job description need to reflect the degree requirement explicitly.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Senior Systems Administrator roles?
The E-3 has significant advantages for Australians in this role. There's no annual cap, no lottery, and processing at Australian consulates typically runs two to four weeks. The H-1B requires lottery selection with roughly one-in-four odds, and cap-subject petitions are tied to an October 1 start date. For a Senior Systems Administrator with an offer in hand, the E-3 path is far more direct.
Can I switch employers on an E-3 while working as a Senior Systems Administrator in the U.S.?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before starting with them if your current visa is tied to your previous employer. Some practitioners advise getting a new stamp at an Australian consulate during the transition. There's no USCIS transfer petition required, which makes employer changes faster than under H-1B portability rules.
