Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Software QA Engineer
Frame your degree equivalency early
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 specialty occupation purposes. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service before you start applying so employers don't stall at that question.
Target companies with existing LCA history
Employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications before move faster and make fewer errors. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for companies that have approved LCAs in software quality assurance or test engineering roles specifically.
Position QA automation skills to pass specialty occupation review
USCIS scrutinises whether a QA role truly requires a degree in a specific field. Roles centred on test automation, performance engineering, or SDET work carry stronger specialty occupation arguments than manual testing positions with broad requirements.
Confirm the job posting requires a degree
An E-3 application weakens significantly if the job description says 'bachelor's preferred' rather than 'required.' Before accepting an offer, verify the posting specifies a degree in a relevant technical field so the LCA and visa paperwork hold up under review.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and paperwork
The LCA must be certified by DOL before you can apply at the consulate. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so the filing is accurate, complete, and submitted in the right order without delays.
Negotiate timing around consulate appointment windows
E-3 consulate interviews in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth have variable wait times. Once you have a certified LCA and a signed offer letter, move quickly on the DS-160 and appointment booking so your start date aligns with what the employer expects.

Find Software QA Engineer JobsSoftware QA Engineer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Software QA Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that include E-3 visa sponsorship. Filtering by role type and sponsorship status surfaces companies that have already worked with E-3 employees, which shortens the education cycle and speeds up the offer-to-filing timeline for QA engineers.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Software QA Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Software QA Engineer roles qualify when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as computer science, software engineering, or information systems. Roles focused on test automation, SDET work, or performance engineering have the clearest specialty occupation argument. Positions where the employer accepts any degree field, or no degree at all, are harder to support under USCIS's specialty occupation definition.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Software QA Engineers?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply any time of year and start as soon as the consulate approves your visa. The H-1B is capped at 85,000 per year and requires winning a random lottery before filing, which means most applicants wait years for a slot. For Australian QA engineers, the E-3 is a direct path that bypasses the H-1B backlog entirely.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my E-3 application?
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL and receive certification before you can apply at the consulate. They also need to provide a signed offer letter specifying your role, salary, and work location. You'll need the certified LCA, the offer letter, and evidence that your degree matches the specialty occupation requirement to present at your consulate interview.
