Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Special Education Aide
Verify your credential equivalency before applying
Australian three-year education degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree for E-3 visa purposes. Get a credential evaluation from a DOL-recognised service before your first interview so you can confirm eligibility on the spot.
Target districts that already file LCAs
Public school districts and special education cooperatives that have previously filed Labor Condition Applications for E-3 or H-1B visa workers are far more prepared to sponsor you. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data to identify districts with recent LCA history in your target state.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Most Special Education Aide openings don't advertise E-3 sponsorship in the job listing. Migrate Mate surfaces roles at employers with active E-3 filing history, so you're applying where sponsorship is already on the table.
Clarify the specialty occupation requirement upfront
Not every aide role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Confirm with your prospective employer that the position formally requires a bachelor's degree in special education, psychology, or a related field, not just a preference, before the LCA is filed with DOL.
Request employer E-Verify enrollment before your start date
USCIS requires that E-3 employers verify work authorization through E-Verify or equivalent. Confirm your employer is enrolled before you travel, since unenrolled districts can create onboarding delays that affect your I-94 start date.
Handle your LCA and visa paperwork through Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service
School HR departments rarely have in-house immigration expertise. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the LCA submission, DS-160 preparation, and consulate appointment coordination so neither you nor your employer gets stuck on procedural details.
E-3 Visa Special Education Aide: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Special Education Aide jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Most school districts don't advertise E-3 sponsorship directly in job listings. Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface roles at employers with E-3 filing history, so you're not cold-applying to districts that have never sponsored an Australian before. Filtering by role and location narrows results to genuinely sponsorship-ready employers.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Special Education Aide role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but the role must formally require a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as special education, psychology, or child development. Positions where any degree is acceptable, or where no degree is required at all, won't meet the specialty occupation standard. Ask the hiring district to confirm the minimum education requirement in the job description before proceeding.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Special Education Aide roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens and has no lottery, no annual cap, and no random selection process. The H-1B has an 85,000-slot annual cap with a lottery that randomly selects registrants, meaning you could wait years before getting a slot. For eligible Australians, the E-3 is a substantially more predictable path into U.S. school employment.
Can I change school districts while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to obtain a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. or, in some cases, file a change of status if you're already inside the country. You can begin working for the new district once the LCA is certified and the petition is approved. There's no grace period that allows you to work before that point.
