Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Support Lead
Align your degree to the role
Consular officers assess whether your qualification directly supports a Support Lead function. A degree in information systems, computer science, or business management strengthens your case far more than a general arts credential.
Target employers with LCA filing history
Search DOL's Labor Condition Application disclosure data to identify companies that have sponsored specialty occupation roles before. An employer already familiar with the LCA process is far less likely to withdraw an offer over sponsorship complexity.
Address specialty occupation in your offer letter
Ask your hiring manager to specify that the Support Lead role requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Vague job descriptions that list a degree as preferred rather than required create problems at the consulate.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. The filing service manages DOL certification, consulate document preparation, and submission within one business day of receiving your details.
Prepare your three-year degree equivalency documentation
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes, but bring your academic transcripts and a credential evaluation letter to your consulate appointment as supporting evidence.
Negotiate E-3 renewal timing before you start
Your E-3 is employer-specific, so if your employer changes your reporting structure or legal entity, you may need a new LCA before your next renewal. Clarify your employer of record upfront and confirm they'll sponsor renewals every two years.
E-3 Visa Support Lead: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Support Lead jobs in the U.S. that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter for Support Lead roles where employers have active E-3 sponsorship history, rather than applying broadly and discovering late in the process that a company won't sponsor. Targeting employers who have filed LCAs before dramatically improves your conversion rate from application to offer.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Support Lead role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as information systems, business management, or computer science. If the job description accepts any degree or lists education as preferred rather than required, the role may not meet the specialty occupation standard, and a consular officer can deny the visa on that basis.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Support Lead positions?
For Australian professionals, the E-3 is a direct path where H-1B visa involves a lottery with roughly a one-in-four chance of selection. The E-3 has a 10,500-visa annual allocation that has never been exhausted, so there's no waiting for a lottery result. Both require specialty occupation status, but the E-3 can be applied for at any time of year directly at a U.S. consulate.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a Support Lead?
You can change employers, but your E-3 is tied to your specific job offer and LCA. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp, which typically means returning to Australia for a consulate appointment. There's no portability provision like the one available under certain H-1B circumstances.
