About the Center for High Performance Computing (CHPC)
The Center for High Performance Computing (CHPC) at the University of Utah provides advanced computing and data systems and services that support cutting-edge scholarship and innovation across all disciplines. The CHPC partners with faculty, researchers, and institutional stakeholders to design and operate scalable and performant computing environments that enable data-intensive and computationally complex research.
In addition to supporting traditional high-performance computing workloads, the CHPC plays a critical role in developing and maintaining computational environments for artificial intelligence (AI) and research with sensitive information that must meet federal and sponsor compliance requirements. Through collaboration, technical expertise, and a commitment to service, the CHPC advances the University of Utah’s research mission by delivering reliable, trustworthy, and forward-looking research computing infrastructure.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a System Administrator
Translate your Australian IT credentials clearly
U.S. employers need to establish specialty occupation for your LCA. Document how your three-year Australian IT degree maps to a U.S. bachelor's, and gather official transcripts plus a credential evaluation before applying.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for employers who have filed LCAs for System Administrator or IT Operations roles. Prior filings signal the employer already understands the E-3 process.
Use Migrate Mate to streamline your filing
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork. The service manages DOL submission, consulate preparation, and documentation so your start date stays on track.
Clarify your scope before the offer letter
System Administrator job descriptions sometimes blend IT support and network engineering duties. Make sure your offer letter specifies that the role requires a relevant bachelor's degree, since hybrid titles can trigger additional consular scrutiny on specialty occupation.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before your first day
E-3 holders are authorized to work only for the sponsoring employer. Ask your employer to confirm their E-Verify enrollment status during negotiations, since federal contractors are required to participate and enrollment affects your onboarding timeline.
Plan your renewal window around project cycles
E-3 status is granted in two-year increments with no cap on renewals. File your renewal petition at least 90 days before your I-94 expiry so a pending approval keeps you in valid status through any approval delays.

Find System Administrator JobsSystem Administrator E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find System Administrator jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to filter System Administrator openings by employers with E-3 sponsorship history. Because the E-3 has no lottery, employers don't face the timing risk that discourages H-1B sponsorship, which makes more companies willing to sponsor Australian candidates for IT infrastructure roles year-round.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a System Administrator role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as information technology, computer science, or network engineering. Roles that accept any degree or list a degree as preferred rather than required can fail the specialty occupation test, so your offer letter must clearly state the degree requirement.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for System Administrator roles?
The E-3 has no lottery, no annual numerical cap, and can be filed at any time of year. H-1B registrations are capped at 85,000 per fiscal year and subject to a random lottery, meaning a qualified System Administrator candidate can be excluded purely by chance. E-3 holders also don't face the multi-year green card backlogs tied to H-1B status.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a System Administrator?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp if yours reflects the previous employer's details. You can begin working for the new employer once the new LCA is certified and your visa documents are updated, though you cannot work for both employers simultaneously on a single E-3.
