Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree in finance or economics satisfies E-3 visa degree requirements, but hiring managers may not know this. Attach a credential evaluation letter from a NACES-approved evaluator to your application to remove any doubt upfront.
Target firms with existing LCA filing history
Wealth management firms that have previously filed Labor Condition Applications already understand the E-3 sponsorship process. Search the DOL's OFLC disclosure data for financial services employers with recent LCA filings in roles matching your target title.
Find E-3 sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer. Migrate Mate's platform surfaces wealth management employers with active sponsorship history so your job search starts in the right place.
Address Series 65 or Series 7 licensing early
Many U.S. wealth management roles require FINRA licensing that you can't obtain before starting work. Clarify with prospective employers whether you'll work under supervision while completing licensing, and confirm the offer letter reflects your intended start date accordingly.
Negotiate the LCA filing timeline into your start date
The employer must file and receive a certified LCA from DOL before your consulate appointment can proceed. Build at least three to four weeks of LCA processing time into your start date negotiation so the timeline is realistic from the moment you accept an offer.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your interview
Consular officers assess whether you intend to return to Australia after your E-3 period. Documenting ties such as Australian property, family, or professional memberships strengthens your position, particularly if you hold a CFA charter or other Australian professional designation.
E-3 Visa Wealth Management Associate: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Wealth Management Associate jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Wealth Management Associate roles where employers are already open to E-3 sponsorship. The platform filters by visa type so you're not cold-applying to firms unfamiliar with the process. You can also search the DOL's OFLC disclosure database for financial services employers with recent LCA filings in similar roles to build your target list.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Wealth Management Associate role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. Wealth Management Associate positions typically require a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a closely related field, which satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation standard. The key is that the job itself must normally require that degree, roles where any bachelor's degree field is accepted regardless of subject can face additional scrutiny during the LCA review.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Wealth Management Associate roles?
The E-3 has two significant advantages over the H-1B visa for Australian professionals: there's no lottery, and the 10,500 annual allocation has never been exhausted. H-1B registrations routinely exceed 400,000 for 85,000 slots, meaning most applicants aren't selected. With the E-3, a qualifying job offer and approved LCA are sufficient to proceed to a consulate appointment without any randomized selection process.
Can I switch employers after starting a Wealth Management Associate role on an E-3?
Yes, but you can't port an E-3 between employers the way an H-1B allows under AC21 portability rules. Each new employer must file a new LCA and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp or a change of status if you're already in the U.S. Plan for at least three to four weeks of LCA processing before your new start date.
