Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Senior Electronics Engineer to lead innovative electronic design and development projects. In this role, you will drive the creation of cutting-edge electronic systems, ensuring they meet rigorous performance, reliability, and quality standards. Your expertise will be pivotal in advancing our technological capabilities and collaborating across teams. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence product development from concept through deployment while working in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment.
Duties
- Accomplish product design and project management duties to include scheduling, concept planning and review, schedule design reviews with peers and other department individuals. Provide supervision or project coordination to ECAD personnel, designers, and technicians who assist with specific assignments.
- Analyze current and competitive technologies to determine best way to address requirements. Foster creativity and innovation in design solutions.
- Design of analog and digital circuits and the embedded firmware and software that runs on them. Perform circuit design and calculations, modeling using Spice tools, tolerance analysis, prototyping, validation, and verification testing of product designs. Schedule and perform design reviews and formal Gate (stage-gate) reviews at product development milestones, and insure consistency in design reviews, verification, and qualification efforts.
- Develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware and application software as a primary, day-to-day responsibility, writing production-quality code in C and C++ (with supporting use of Python or similar for tooling, test automation, and data analysis). Implement device drivers, real-time / RTOS-based tasks, state machines, and communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, USB, and BLE / wireless), and manage source code under version control (Git) with structured code reviews and clear documentation.
- Provide sustaining support to existing products and assistance with customer and sales support requirements. Apply manufacturing process and capabilities in product design process DFM/DFT. Assist in product testing and quality plan requirements. Qualify and approve purchased component manufacturers.
- Create and oversee the release of product documentation. Perform review and approval of engineering documentation as needed.
- Interface with certification agencies in product testing, verification, and validation to industry established product standards. Work Experience Requirements
- 5- 8 years of product design and/or manufacturing experience with electronic controls, circuit design, and embedded firmware development
- Experience with both digital and analog circuit designs in an embedded control environment
- Strong electronics background and fundamentals are required, including analog and digital circuit design, microcontroller and peripheral interfacing, power supply and regulator design, signal integrity, and EMC / EMI design and compliance, with a track record of taking electronic hardware from concept through production.
- Demonstrated proficiency in embedded programming in C and C++ is required, including hands-on firmware development for microcontroller-based products. As primarily a Microchip house, experience with Microchip devices (PIC, dsPIC, AVR, and SAM / ARM Cortex-M) is preferred, along with the ability to program parts from other vendors (e.g., STM32, Renesas, Nordic). Working knowledge of real-time operating systems (e.g., FreeRTOS), bare-metal and register-level programming, interrupt handling, and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, USB, BLE). Comfortable with hardware bring-up and debugging using JTAG / SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers, and with managing code under Git version control.
