INTRODUCTION
A mission-driven nonprofit media organization is seeking an Email Marketing Specialist to manage its day-to-day email and lifecycle marketing program. This hands-on role will focus on building campaigns, managing automated journeys, analyzing performance, and continuously improving engagement, conversion, retention, and revenue.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build, test, schedule, and deploy promotional, transactional, fundraising, newsletter, and lifecycle email campaigns.
- Develop automated journeys for onboarding, conversion, renewal, re-engagement, donor cultivation, and win-back.
- Create campaign landing pages and ensure a consistent experience through conversion.
- Build targeted audience segments based on behavior, engagement, lifecycle stage, and member or donor history.
- Conduct A/B testing across subject lines, messaging, creative, calls to action, offers, audiences, and send times.
- Track campaign performance and translate results into actionable recommendations.
- Manage campaign QA, deliverability, list health, tracking, and compliance.
- Coordinate the email calendar across marketing, editorial, development, and membership teams.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of hands-on email, lifecycle, or digital marketing experience.
- Proficiency with an ESP or marketing automation platform such as Customer.io, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot, or Salesforce.
- Experience building and optimizing email campaigns and automated journeys.
- Basic HTML/CSS skills for email troubleshooting and landing-page updates.
- Strong copywriting, editing, analytical, and project-management skills.
- Experience with Google Analytics or a similar reporting platform.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with CRM, CDP, membership, subscriber, or donor data.
- Background in nonprofit fundraising, subscription media, publishing, or another member-supported organization.
- Familiarity with landing-page or CMS platforms such as Unbounce, HubSpot, or WordPress.
- Experience with a right-of-center or mission-driven organization and alignment with conservative principles.
