Energy Jobs in Idaho: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a energy in Idaho?
Most energy roles in Idaho require a relevant bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related technical field. For electrical work, the Idaho Division of Building Safety issues electrical licenses through a state examination process. Nuclear and utility roles at facilities like INL may also require federal security clearances and site-specific training programs. Entry-level candidates often begin in technician or analyst roles before advancing to full engineering or operations positions.
Which companies hire energys in Idaho?
Employers hiring energys in Idaho right now include Valley Wide Cooperative, Burns & McDonnell, and Micron Technology, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Idaho's energy sector is anchored by utility operators, nuclear research institutions, and a growing renewable development presence, meaning openings tend to cluster around long-standing infrastructure employers across the state.
Which Idaho cities have the most energy jobs?
Boise, Nampa, and Cascade lead Idaho for energy job openings. Boise drives volume through Idaho Power's headquarters and a growing cleantech presence, Idaho Falls is the center of nuclear employment anchored by INL, and Twin Falls benefits from renewable energy projects and regional utility operations that generate consistent technical and field-based hiring.
Are there remote energy jobs in Idaho?
Yes, but they're rare. Most energy roles involve on-site plant operations, fieldwork, or hands-on technical duties that require physical presence. About 67% of energy openings tied to Idaho are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, with those positions tending to be in energy analysis, policy, project management, or software-side grid monitoring rather than operations or field engineering.
How can I get hired as a energy in Idaho with little or no experience?

Entry-level titles like energy analyst, operations technician, or junior engineer are common starting points. Earning an EIT certification through the Idaho Board of Licensure of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors strengthens your application considerably before you have years of field experience.
