Engineering Design Manager Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a engineering design manager in Florida?
Most engineering design managers in Florida begin with a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, then build toward a Professional Engineer license through the Florida Board of Professional Engineers, which requires passing the Fundamentals of Engineering and Principles and Practice of Engineering exams. Several years of progressively responsible engineering work typically precede a move into a management role, and a PE license significantly strengthens candidacy, especially in civil, structural, and government-contractor environments.
Which companies hire engineering design managers in Florida?
Employers hiring engineering design managers in Florida right now include RINA, Meta, and Chewy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's concentration of aerospace primes, defense contractors, and large infrastructure firms means openings appear consistently across both the Space Coast corridor and major metro areas.
Which Florida cities have the most engineering design manager jobs?
Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, and Orlando lead for engineering design manager openings in Florida. Orlando drives volume through its aerospace, defense simulation, and technology sector, Tampa draws from civil engineering and defense logistics firms along the bay, and Miami reflects demand from infrastructure, marine, and international engineering consultancies concentrated in South Florida.
Are there remote engineering design manager jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical roles, because engineering design management often requires hands-on oversight of hardware, lab environments, or on-site teams. About 0% of engineering design manager openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate in software-heavy or systems engineering disciplines where design reviews and team coordination can happen effectively online.
How can I get hired as a engineering design manager in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to secure a project engineer or senior engineer role at a large Florida employer, then move into a team lead position before pursuing a formal management title. Aerospace primes on the Space Coast and defense contractors in Orlando frequently run engineering rotational or associate programs for early-career candidates. Earning or progressing toward a Florida PE license during that period signals readiness for design leadership and is a tangible differentiator in Florida's engineering market.
Where can I find and apply to engineering design manager jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to engineering design manager jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings from employers actively hiring for the role. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly.
