What Employers Look For
The qualifications that appear most often in ERP consultant jobs.
- Hands-on implementation experience with SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics ERP platforms
- Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into system configuration
- Experience leading or supporting full-cycle ERP implementations from discovery to go-live
- Strong communication skills for training end users and presenting to client stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, business, accounting, or a related field
- Relevant vendor certification such as SAP Certified Consultant or Oracle Cloud certification
Tips for Your ERP Consultant Job Search
Tailor your resume to the module
ERP hiring managers scan for specific module experience first, so list each system and module you've worked with, such as SAP S/4HANA FI/CO or Oracle HCM, before you describe project outcomes. Generic 'ERP experience' buries your actual value.
Document full project lifecycle contributions
Clients want consultants who can handle discovery through go-live, not just configuration. For each role on your resume, state which implementation phase you owned, how many end users you supported, and what the system replaced.
Filter openings by industry vertical
ERP implementations differ sharply between discrete manufacturing and healthcare or public sector. Targeting openings in the industry where you have prior project experience cuts competition and positions you as lower risk for the hiring team.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists erp consultant openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a fit-gap analysis walkthrough
Interviewers frequently ask candidates to walk through how they would identify gaps between a client's business process and standard system functionality. Practice explaining your methodology out loud so your answer is structured and confident, not improvised.
Negotiate against a project-based comp structure
Many erp consultant offers include a base plus per-diem or travel allowance. Before accepting, calculate total annual compensation under the actual expected travel schedule, and counter on per-diem rate or remote allowance if the base is non-negotiable.
ERP Consultant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most erp consultants?
The companies hiring the most erp consultants right now include ERP Advisors, Heartland Business Systems, and PCG, with the largest share of openings in Texas, Illinois, and Colorado, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Demand is concentrated at consulting firms and systems integrators that staff multiple client projects simultaneously.
How many erp consultant jobs are remote?
About 79% of erp consultant openings are fully remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with remote availability highest in post-implementation support, managed services, and upgrade projects where on-site presence is less critical. New implementation projects, especially during blueprint and go-live phases, more often require periodic or full on-site work at the client location.
How do you become an erp consultant?
Start by earning a degree in information systems, accounting, supply chain, or a related business discipline, then gain hands-on exposure through an entry-level analyst or business systems role where you work directly with an ERP platform. Pursue a vendor certification in your target system, such as SAP or Oracle, to validate your module knowledge. Build a project history that shows at least one full implementation cycle before targeting senior consultant roles.
Can you get an erp consultant job with little or no experience?
Entry-level erp consultant roles do exist, typically as junior consultants or implementation analysts at larger consulting firms that run internal training programs for new hires. The most direct path is to gain functional knowledge of a specific module, complete a vendor-authorized training course, and apply to firms that explicitly recruit candidates for associate consultant development tracks rather than expecting immediate client-ready expertise.
What does the erp consultant interview process look like?
The process typically begins with a recruiter screen focused on system experience and availability, followed by a functional interview where a senior consultant or practice manager tests your knowledge of specific modules and methodology. Many firms include a case or scenario round where you walk through how you would handle a client requirement or a common implementation challenge. Final rounds often involve a conversation with a practice lead or client-facing partner.
Where can I find and apply to erp consultant jobs?
You can find and apply to erp consultant jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your system experience, industry background, and preferred work arrangement, then apply directly to each listing that fits.
