Estimator Jobs in Tampa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a estimator job in Tampa?
Construction and civil infrastructure firms in Tampa hire the most estimators, particularly those with experience in commercial builds, roofing, mechanical systems, or site development. The Westshore business district and Port of Tampa Bay area concentrate heavy contractor activity. Candidates who know Florida building codes, have hands-on field experience, and can work in Bluebeam or Sage Estimating tend to move faster through hiring in this market.
Which companies hire estimators in Tampa?
Companies currently hiring estimators in Tampa include MWH, Jobot, and IES Holdings, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Tampa's hiring mix leans toward regional general contractors, specialty subcontractors, and infrastructure firms serving the Gulf Coast construction corridor.
Are there remote estimator jobs in Tampa?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the type of estimating work. About 13% of estimator openings tied to Tampa are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with desk-based takeoff and quantity estimating more likely to allow it. Roles tied to on-site measurement, subcontractor coordination, or active project oversight remain primarily in-person.
How can I get a estimator job in Tampa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Tampa is through a project coordinator or estimating assistant role at a regional general contractor or specialty trade firm. Companies handling the wave of commercial and multifamily development around Brandon, Ybor City, and the Channel District often hire junior estimators willing to learn their internal software and bidding process. A background in construction management, civil technology, or even field labor gives Tampa employers a reason to take a chance on a less experienced candidate.
Which industries hire the most estimators in Tampa?
Most estimator openings in Tampa sit in Staffing & Recruiting and Construction & Real Estate, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Tampa's sustained residential boom, port expansion, and commercial development pipeline keep demand for estimators concentrated in those sectors year-round.
