Churchill McGee is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Estimator / Project Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing plans and specifications, soliciting subcontractor and supplier pricing, preparing bid packages, evaluating scopes, and supporting preconstruction efforts from early budgeting through final bid or GMP development.

The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, deadline-driven, and able to work closely with owners, architects, project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors. This position requires a strong understanding of construction documents, project scope, quantity takeoffs, pricing, subcontractor coordination, and value engineering.

• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, scopes of work, and bid documents to understand project requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
• Develop conceptual budgets, preliminary estimates, hard bids, and GMP pricing as needed.
• Solicit, receive, organize, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Prepare bid tabs, scope comparisons, clarifications, assumptions, and exclusions.
• Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, coordination issues, and potential cost impacts.
• Work with project managers and field leadership to understand means, methods, schedule, logistics, labor needs, and self-perform opportunities.
• Support value engineering efforts and provide cost-saving recommendations without compromising quality, durability, or design intent.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, owners, and internal team members.
• Assist with preconstruction deliverables, proposal pricing, schedules, alternates, allowances, and general conditions.
• Track bid deadlines and ensure pricing is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
• Maintain estimating files, historical pricing, subcontractor information, and project documentation.
• Participate in project handoff meetings with operations after award.

• Experience in commercial construction estimating, project management, preconstruction, or a related construction role.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Knowledge of construction materials, methods, sequencing, subcontractor scopes, and pricing.
• Experience preparing quantity takeoffs, bid tabs, budgets, and detailed estimates.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines at once.
• Excellent communication skills with subcontractors, vendors, clients, and internal team members.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with estimating, takeoff, or construction management software.
• Ability to identify scope gaps, ask good questions, and follow through on details.
• High level of accuracy, professionalism, accountability, and follow-up.

• Commercial general contracting experience.
• Experience with renovations, occupied facilities, retail, healthcare, education, institutional, or multi-location program work.
• Experience with negotiated work, hard bid work, GMP development, and preconstruction services.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam, Procore, PlanSwift, BuildingConnected, SmartBid, Sage, or similar construction software.
• Knowledge of self-perform scopes such as demolition, concrete, masonry, carpentry, doors/frames/hardware, metal framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, specialties, and finishes.
