Lewis Construction Services is seeking a motivated Junior or Senior Estimator to join our team. We are looking for someone with experience—or a strong interest—in estimating underground utility and site construction projects.
The right candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable reviewing plans, performing takeoffs, obtaining pricing, and preparing competitive bids. We are open to an experienced Senior Estimator as well as a Junior Estimator who is eager to learn and grow with our company.
Responsibilities
- Review construction plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents
- Perform quantity takeoffs for grading, water, sewer, storm drainage, and related site/utility work
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors
- Solicit and review pricing from vendors and subcontractors
- Identify project requirements, potential risks, and scope gaps
- Prepare and submit accurate, competitive bids
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed
- Maintain organized estimating files and bid documentation
- Communicate with owners, general contractors, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Assist with project handoff from estimating to operations after award
- Track bid results and maintain relationships with customers and vendors
Qualifications
Junior Estimator
- Construction experience or education preferred
- Basic understanding of construction plans and specifications
- Strong math, computer, and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn underground utility estimating
- Ability to work independently and meet bid deadlines
Senior Estimator
- Previous estimating experience in civil, sitework, or underground utility construction
- Strong knowledge of water, sewer, storm drainage, and related infrastructure
- Ability to independently complete takeoffs and estimates from start to finish
- Understanding of labor, equipment production, material costs, and subcontractor pricing
- Strong plan-reading and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
