Experienced Project Manager Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an experienced project manager in Mississippi?
Most experienced project manager roles in Mississippi require a combination of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and several years of progressive project management experience. The Project Management Professional credential from the Project Management Institute is the most recognized qualification Mississippi employers request. Some sectors, particularly construction and engineering, also value the Certified Construction Manager designation. Building experience through coordinator or assistant project manager roles at Mississippi contractors, utilities, or government agencies is the standard progression path.
How much do experienced project managers make in Mississippi?
Experienced project managers in Mississippi earn a median of about $78,870 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $50,840 for the lowest 10% to over $140,140 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire experienced project managers in Mississippi?
Mississippi experienced project manager roles are posted by Milwaukee Tool, Wayne-Sanderson Farms, and Gulf South Roofing and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's defense contracting presence along the Gulf Coast and its large utility and infrastructure sector mean demand is distributed across both private industry and government-adjacent employers statewide.
Which Mississippi cities have the most experienced project manager jobs?
Jackson, Flowood, and Gulfport have the most experienced project manager openings in Mississippi. Jackson's concentration of state government agencies, healthcare systems, and corporate headquarters drives demand there, while Gulfport and the Gulf Coast corridor generate openings through shipbuilding, defense contracting, and ongoing coastal infrastructure work that requires dedicated project management oversight.
Are there remote experienced project manager jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, and more than many fields, since project management work is largely planning, communication, and documentation that can be done off-site. About 40% of experienced project manager openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, though roles tied to construction sites, manufacturing floors, or federal installations typically require an on-site presence. IT program management and corporate PMO roles are the most consistently remote-eligible.
How can I get hired as an experienced project manager in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a project coordinator or project administrator role at a Mississippi construction firm, hospital system, or state agency, which provides direct exposure to project lifecycle work. Large Mississippi employers like Entergy and the University of Mississippi Medical Center occasionally post junior program roles that accept candidates with internship or related administrative experience. Earning the CAPM credential from the Project Management Institute before applying demonstrates commitment and gives candidates without years of experience a concrete qualification edge.
Where can I find and apply to experienced project manager jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to experienced project manager jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current Mississippi openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and apply directly to the ones that fit your qualifications and preferred location within the state.
