Technical Project Manager Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical project manager in Mississippi?
Most technical project manager roles in Mississippi are entered through a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering, computer science, or information systems, combined with project coordination experience. Mississippi does not have a state-issued license for this role, but earning a Project Management Professional certification is a widely recognized differentiator. Candidates targeting defense contractors along the Gulf Coast will often also need eligibility for a federal security clearance.
How much do technical project managers make in Mississippi?
Technical project managers in Mississippi earn a median of about $78,870 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $50,840 for the lowest 10% to over $140,140 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical project managers in Mississippi?
Companies currently hiring technical project managers in Mississippi include Milwaukee Tool, Wayne-Sanderson Farms, and Canopy Children's Solutions, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's defense corridor, healthcare networks, and growing IT services sector make it a consistent source of technical project management demand across multiple industries.
Which Mississippi cities have the most technical project manager jobs?
Jackson, Flowood, and Biloxi have the most technical project manager openings in Mississippi. Jackson drives demand through state government IT contracts and major healthcare systems, the Gulf Coast cities of Biloxi and Gulfport are anchored by Keesler Air Force Base and defense contractors, and Hattiesburg and the surrounding area generate openings through regional healthcare and engineering firms.
Are there remote technical project manager jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, and more than most fields. Technical project management is largely desk-based work involving planning, stakeholder coordination, and documentation, which lends itself well to remote arrangements. About 25% of technical project manager openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, though defense and government roles typically require on-site presence due to security requirements. IT and healthcare program management positions offer the most remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a technical project manager in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a project coordinator or junior business analyst role at a Mississippi healthcare system or technology services firm, then building toward a full project manager title. Employers like the University of Mississippi Medical Center and regional IT contractors frequently hire coordinators without extensive experience. Completing a Google Project Management Certificate or beginning a PMP education-hour requirement while working in a support role gives candidates a measurable credential edge in Mississippi's market.
Where can I find and apply to technical project manager jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to technical project manager jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Mississippi employers and remote roles open to Mississippi-based candidates. Search the listings to find roles that fit your experience and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that match.
