Epic Technical Manager leads the planning, design, implementation, and support of Epic systems by defining project scope, technical objectives, and system requirements. Manage Epic technical teams, oversee complex system implementations and upgrades, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable solutions that align with business and clinical needs. Direct systems analysis, documentation, quality assurance, and project execution while providing technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration. Successfully manage multiple enterprise projects with moderate to large budgets and organization-wide impact, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and in accordance with organizational standards.Education & Experience
Degree (Associate’s or Bachelor’s) and four (4) years work experience in healthcare information technology, Epic technical build/optimization, data management or analytics, database administration, cloud computing, or server and storage administration that includes 1 year’s leadership experience.
Certifications, Licenses, or Registration Required:
Epic certification or accreditation in one or more Epic modules, including ECSA, Cogito Systems, Clarity Administration, or Operational Database Administration. If not Epic certified or accredited in an Epic certification is required post-hire within six (6)months.

Ability to program, test, debug, document, or install systems. Ability to write programs. Ability to prepare reports and maintain records and documentation. Ability to supervise, evaluate, and/or provides functional guidance to assigned subordinate personnel or personnel assigned on a temporary or intermittent basis.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the research, design, testing, documentation, releases, installs, and supports any Epic system and associated databases (InterSystems and Cognito) supported by UMMC information systems. This includes the management of all SU and RA technical releases and upgrades provided by Epic for installation into the UMMC environment.
- Provides technical leadership, guidance, and training to other technical staff. Displays creative thinking and resolves problems.
- Works with is staff, users, and vendors to find the best technological means to meet business needs. Keeps abreast of current and new technologies and serves as a resource to other technical staff.
- Develops specifications and conducts research with the assistance of is staff, users, and vendors to design, create, develop, or enhance computer applications. Prepares the required documents in accordance with UMMC programming standards, policies, and procedures.
- Participates in project teams, special projects, and other tasks as assigned by director or designated team leader. Accomplishes goals and objectives within set deadlines.
- Provides positive customer relations across the range of information system activities including support services, UMMC business units, and vendors. Promotes corporate integrity through compliance with UMMC and information technology policies and procedures.
- Responsible for personnel performance issues of his team including but not limited to time management, performance management, attendance, technical training, workload and task assignment, and collaboration and coordination amongst team members. Will do performance reviews and status of all personnel issue with his team.
