Research Product Manager Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a research product manager in Mississippi?
Most research product manager roles in Mississippi require a bachelor's degree in a technical, scientific, or business discipline, though many employers at institutions like the University of Mississippi Medical Center or Mississippi State University prefer candidates with graduate-level training. There is no state-issued license specific to the role. Earning a Certified Scrum Product Owner or Project Management Professional credential significantly strengthens applications at Mississippi's major research employers and defense contractors.
Which companies hire research product managers in Mississippi?
Mississippi research product manager roles are posted by University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson State University, and The University of Southern MIssissippi and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's concentration of academic medical centers, federally funded defense contractors, and agribusiness research firms creates consistent demand for this role across the state.
Which Mississippi cities have the most research product manager jobs?
Jackson, Flowood, and Hattiesburg have the most research product manager openings in Mississippi. Jackson leads because of the University of Mississippi Medical Center and a cluster of health technology firms, while Hattiesburg draws from the University of Southern Mississippi's research programs, and the Gulf Coast cities benefit from sustained defense and aerospace contractor activity tied to federal installations in the region.
Are there remote research product manager jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, and more than many roles, since research product management is largely desk-based and coordination-driven. About 14% of research product manager openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the analytical and meeting-heavy nature of the work. The aspects most commonly done remotely include roadmap planning, stakeholder communication, and documentation, while on-site presence is typically needed for lab coordination or regulated research environments.
How can I get hired as a research product manager in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a research coordinator, clinical data analyst, or project analyst role at a Mississippi academic medical center or university research office. The University of Mississippi Medical Center and Mississippi State University's research divisions regularly hire associate product or program coordinators who build toward full product manager responsibilities. Completing a Certified Scrum Product Owner course and assembling a portfolio of a mock roadmap or a documented research project outcome gives early-career candidates a concrete advantage in Mississippi interviews.
