Construction Project Manager Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a construction project manager in Mississippi?
Most construction project managers in Mississippi start with a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture, then build field experience as a project engineer or superintendent. Mississippi does not issue a state-specific construction project manager license, but many employers require the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute alongside an OSHA 30 credential. Gaining experience with a Mississippi-based general contractor before pursuing a PM role is the most direct path.
How much do construction project managers make in Mississippi?
Construction project managers in Mississippi earn a median of about $99,520 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,610 for the lowest 10% to over $161,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire construction project managers in Mississippi?
Employers hiring construction project managers in Mississippi right now include ECS Limited, Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, and Property Masters, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's mix of public infrastructure spending and Gulf Coast commercial development keeps a consistent range of general contractors and owner-operators actively recruiting.
Which Mississippi cities have the most construction project manager jobs?
Jackson, Oxford, and Ridgeland hold the most construction project manager openings in Mississippi. Jackson drives volume as the state capital with ongoing government and healthcare facility projects, while Gulfport and Biloxi benefit from Gulf Coast hospitality and port infrastructure investment that keeps regional contractors consistently hiring.
Are there remote construction project manager jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, but they're rare. Construction project management is fundamentally a site-based role, so most positions require regular on-site presence in Mississippi. About 33% of construction project manager openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to involve pre-construction planning, estimating, or owner-side program management rather than active field supervision.
How can I get hired as a construction project manager in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a project engineer or field engineer with a Mississippi general contractor such as Yates Construction or a regional commercial builder, where you support a senior PM on active projects. Many Mississippi contractors also hire construction management graduates directly into assistant PM roles. Earning an OSHA 30 card and completing a construction management internship with a Mississippi Department of Transportation contractor or a campus facilities department strengthens an entry-level application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to construction project manager jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to construction project manager jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current Mississippi openings from contractors, owners, and public agencies across the state. Search the listings, find the roles that fit your experience level and preferred region, and apply directly to the ones that match.
