Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Commercial Facilities Maintenance Technician to ensure the optimal operation, safety, and appearance of our commercial properties. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of building systems and facilities equipment, troubleshooting issues promptly, and performing repairs that keep our environment functional and inviting. Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, and building interior components to ensure operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues using schematics, ohmmeters, and electrical equipment repair techniques.
- Perform carpentry, painting, and other handyman tasks to maintain the building’s interior and exterior appearance.
- Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software to track work orders, maintenance schedules, and asset histories.
- Repair and maintain facilities equipment including hand tools, electrical systems, plumbing fixtures, HVAC units, and mechanical devices.
- Supervise or assist with maintenance projects involving plumbing system repairs, HVAC system repairs, or building interior upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards by following proper procedures during maintenance activities and maintaining accurate schematics documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing tenant concerns promptly while maintaining a professional attitude.
- Lead or support team efforts in maintenance projects or other facility upgrades to enhance the property’s appearance.
- Rotating On-Call schedule for evenings and weekends as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance or related roles with strong mechanical knowledge across multiple trades including electrical work, plumbing, HVAC repair, carpentry and painting.
- Familiarity with schematics for electrical wiring and mechanical systems; ability to interpret technical diagrams accurately.
- Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), CMMS software, ohmmeters, hand tools, and electrical equipment repair.
- Knowledge of plumbing system maintenance and repair techniques; experience with residential or commercial plumbing preferred.
- Ability to perform HVAC system repairs; understanding of HVAC components such as compressors, filters, thermostats is essential.
- Strong electrical experience including troubleshooting electrical issues safely using appropriate tools like multimeters or ohmmeters.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing.
- Supervising experience is a plus; capable of leading small teams or projects effectively.
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks including lifting heavy objects; comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces when necessary.
- You will use your own vehicle for site travel. A valid drivers' license and vehicle insurance is required. Vehicle stipend is provided.
