Field Sales Consultant Jobs in District of Columbia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field sales consultant in District of Columbia?
Becoming a field sales consultant in District of Columbia typically starts with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline, as no state-issued sales license is required for most commercial roles here. Because so much of the DC market is tied to federal contracting, candidates who pursue a security clearance or complete government procurement training gain a significant competitive edge. Many employers also value familiarity with the DC procurement landscape and agency structures before considering candidates for senior territory roles.
How much do field sales consultants make in District of Columbia?
Field sales consultants in District of Columbia earn a median of about $76,770 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $44,590 for the lowest 10% to over $192,270 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire field sales consultants in District of Columbia?
Companies currently hiring field sales consultants in District of Columbia include Guidehouse, CAVA, and Sikich, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The District of Columbia market skews heavily toward employers with federal agency relationships, so large government contractors and technology integrators account for a consistent share of openings year-round.
Which District of Columbia cities have the most field sales consultant jobs?
Washington lead field sales consultant openings in District of Columbia. Washington DC anchors the market as the headquarters for major federal agencies and the contractors that serve them, while Arlington and Bethesda draw substantial hiring from defense technology firms and health IT companies clustered in Northern Virginia and Montgomery County.
Are there remote field sales consultant jobs in District of Columbia?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based roles because field sales work is built around in-person territory visits and client meetings. About 55% of field sales consultant openings tied to District of Columbia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate in inside sales, account management, or roles supporting clients across a wider mid-Atlantic region rather than a single local territory.
How can I get hired as a field sales consultant in District of Columbia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or business development associate role at a government technology or professional services firm, which DC has in abundance. Large contractors like Leidos and Booz Allen Hamilton run structured associate programs that move candidates into field-facing roles after an initial inside sales rotation. A CompTIA certification or familiarity with federal procurement basics also helps candidates stand out when applying to employers whose clients are federal agencies.
Where can I find and apply to field sales consultant jobs in District of Columbia?
You can find and apply to field sales consultant jobs in District of Columbia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the DC metro area. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and target industry, and apply directly to each position that fits.
