Job Description
We are seeking to fill two 9-month assistant professor faculty positions within the new PsyD program, beginning in Fall 2027. Housed within the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences, ISU’s Department of Psychology offers a BS and a BA in psychology, a minor in Applied Behavior Analysis, a PhD in Psychological Science, an APA-accredited PhD in Clinical Psychology (scientist-practitioner model), and a new PsyD in Clinical Psychology (located on the ISU Meridian campus). Applicants must have received their degree from an accredited clinical psychology (or closely related discipline) doctoral program and be license-eligible in the State of Idaho. As core members of the department’s PsyD Clinical Training Committee, these faculty members will teach graduate classes, provide clinical supervision, perform service activities, and mentor students in the program. Competitive applicants will have a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, and clinical supervision of graduate students. Clinical expertise with an integrated behavioral health and/or telehealth focus is welcome. These positions can be filled as tenure-track or not tenure-track positions, based on applicant interests. If they are tenure-track, a research component to the workload will be included; if not tenure-track, then a larger teaching component will be included.
These positions are not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.
Key Responsibilities
These faculty members will serve as core faculty for the PsyD program, teach graduate courses, provide clinical supervision, and mentor graduate students in the program. Research components to the workload will depend on if a tenure-track position is desired.
- Tenure track: it is expected that the faculty member will teach one traditional graduate course per semester (Fall & Spring), with the remaining portions of the workload being dedicated to research, clinical supervision, student mentorship/advising, and other professional service (each equivalent in workload to one course per semester).
- Not tenure track: it is expected that the faculty member will teach two traditional graduate courses per semester (Fall & Spring), with the remaining portions of the workload being dedicated to clinical supervision, student mentorship/advising, and other professional service (each equivalent in workload to one course per semester).
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology or a doctorate in a closely related discipline (e.g., Doctor of Behavioral Health, PhD in Counseling Psychology) from an accredited program
- License-eligible in the State of Idaho
Preferred Qualifications
- Commitment to excellence and experience in teaching and mentoring
- Integrated behavioral health and/or telehealth experience/expertise
- For one of the two positions, there is a preference for someone who can teach and supervise graduate students in assessment
Additional Information
- Current curriculum vitae
- A cover letter summarizing research, clinical, and teaching interests
- Graduate transcripts (unofficial is acceptable until position is confirmed)
- Representative publications (up to six)
- Three letters of recommendation (submitted by letter writers to psych@isu.edu)
This position will remain open until it is filled; however, priority consideration will be given to applications received on or before October 1, 2026. Salary will be between $72,000 and $77,250 per year, commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include comprehensive health, dental, and vision; life insurance; disability plan; employee assistance program (EAP); excellent retirement options and company contribution; and generous paid time off/sick leave accrual. All offers of employment are conditional pending the successful completion of a background investigation, provided by HireRight.

Finance Professor Jobs in Idaho: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance professor in Idaho?
Becoming a finance professor in Idaho requires completing a doctoral degree, typically a Ph.D. or DBA in finance, accounting, or a closely related discipline, as Idaho's public universities consistently require terminal degrees for tenure-track roles. Idaho does not issue a state teaching license for university-level faculty. Candidates strengthen their standing by building a publication record and gaining industry experience, since institutions like Boise State and Idaho State value applied expertise alongside academic credentials.
Which companies hire finance professors in Idaho?
Companies currently hiring finance professors in Idaho include Grand Canyon University, University of Idaho, and Idaho State University, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Idaho's university system, anchored by Boise State University, the University of Idaho, and Idaho State University, accounts for the majority of recurring finance faculty openings in the state.
Which Idaho cities have the most finance professor jobs?
The cities with the most finance professor openings in Idaho are Boise, Moscow, and Pocatello. Boise dominates because Boise State University's College of Business and Economics is the largest business school in the state, while Moscow and Pocatello reflect the presence of the University of Idaho and Idaho State University, which maintain full-time finance faculty lines and hire regularly as enrollment and program needs evolve.
Are there remote finance professor jobs in Idaho?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely analytical fields because most finance professor roles involve in-person instruction and campus committee work. About 12% of finance professor openings tied to Idaho are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to be online adjunct roles or distance-learning courses rather than full tenure-track appointments.
How can I get hired as a finance professor in Idaho with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an adjunct or visiting instructor position at one of Idaho's regional campuses while completing or immediately following a doctoral program. Boise State University, Idaho State University, and the College of Western Idaho regularly post part-time finance teaching roles that serve as a proven bridge to full-time lines. Candidates from industry roles such as financial analyst, bank examiner, or portfolio manager can highlight that applied background alongside a CFA or CFP credential to stand out for practitioner-track and clinical faculty openings that emphasize professional experience over a lengthy publication record.
Where can I find and apply to finance professor jobs in Idaho?
You can find and apply to finance professor jobs in Idaho on Migrate Mate, which lists current Idaho openings across institutions and experience levels. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and preferred location, and apply directly to each position.
