ABOUT THE ROLE
Ironclad is hiring a Senior Finance Systems & AI Engineer to own the data infrastructure, system integrations, and AI automation that power our Finance teams. This role sits within the Finance organization and reports directly to the VP of FP&A with a dotted line to the Controller.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Finance Systems Architecture & Integration
- Design and maintain reliable, low-manual-touch integrations across the Finance stack using iPaaS platforms or equivalent
- Partner with Data Engineering on BigQuery pipelines that serve as the analytics layer for Finance
- Own the Finance systems roadmap end-to-end, from strategic design to implementation
- Define and enforce data governance standards: field definitions, hierarchy taxonomy, department and cost-center mapping, and change-control SLAs
EPM Platform Ownership
- Own FP&A planning platform end-to-end: model architecture, formula logic, dimension hierarchies, integration design, long-range planning (LRP), rolling forecasts, full-year budgeting, and headcount planning
- Configure EPM so each FP&A analyst owns their planning area independently with minimal admin bottleneck
Financial Close Automation
- Partner with the Controller to identify and automate the highest-cost manual steps in the monthly close: reconciliations, journal entry support, accrual calculations, and intercompany matching
- Build automated pipelines that produce a reliable, fully-loaded P&L forecast each month
AI Automation & Agentic Workflows
- Identify high-ROI automation opportunities across the FP&A and close cycle like variance analysis, anomaly detection, reconciliation; build agents and pipelines to eliminate them
- Design human-in-the-loop controls and auditability frameworks so automated outputs are trustworthy and SOX-compliant
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- 5+ years in Finance and 3+ years in Finance Systems, Business Applications, or FP&A Engineering at a high-growth technology company, with demonstrated ownership of outcomes rather than tickets
- AI-first mindset and hands-on experience: you've built or deployed AI/LLM-powered automation in a Finance or operations context
- Deep hands-on experience with at least one modern EPM platform including data model design, formula logic, and integration configuration
- Working knowledge of NetSuite (or equivalent ERP) including chart of accounts, dimensions, reporting structures, and API/integration patterns
COMPENSATION
- Base Salary Range: $130,000.00 - $163,000.00
The base salary range represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position based at our San Francisco headquarters. Mid Level Finance Systems Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level finance systems manager job?
Position your experience around ownership, not just participation. Highlight projects where you led a system rollout, resolved an integration issue, or improved a financial reporting workflow without heavy supervision. Emphasize familiarity with ERP or FP&A platforms, cross-functional collaboration, and any process improvements you drove. Applications that show concrete outcomes, such as reduced close cycles or cleaner data pipelines, consistently stand out at this level.
Which companies hire mid level finance systems managers?
Companies hiring mid level finance systems managers right now include Fastly, Veranex, and Ironclad, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level covers both large enterprises investing in finance transformation programs and mid-size companies building out their first dedicated systems function.
Are there remote mid level finance systems manager jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by employer and system complexity. About 71% of mid level finance systems manager openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the role's strong fit for distributed work when core systems are cloud-based. Roles tied to on-site ERP implementations or heavily regulated environments tend to require more in-person presence.
How do I move up to a mid level finance systems manager role?
The path typically runs through hands-on exposure to financial systems configuration, reporting tools, or ERP modules during your first few years. What moves someone from entry level to mid level is taking ownership of a meaningful project, demonstrating that you can troubleshoot independently, and building a record of measurable process improvements. Deeper platform expertise, such as proficiency in a specific ERP, and experience working across finance and IT teams accelerates the transition.
Which industries hire the most mid level finance systems managers?
Mid Level finance systems manager roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Manufacturing, and Chemicals & Materials, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors tend to operate complex financial infrastructures with ongoing system upgrades, creating sustained demand for professionals who can manage implementations and optimize reporting at the mid level.
