Mid Level General Ledger Accountant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level general ledger accountant job?
Position yourself around ownership, not just participation. Highlight reconciliations you ran independently, close processes you managed end to end, and any ERP systems you worked in without hand-holding. Tailor your resume to show accuracy under deadline pressure, comfort with intercompany transactions, and experience preparing schedules that feed into financial statements directly.
Which companies hire mid level general ledger accountants?
Companies hiring mid level general ledger accountants right now include GFT, NCH, and Etched, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from mid-size and large organizations with enough accounting volume to need someone who can own a ledger segment rather than assist on one.
Are there remote mid level general ledger accountant jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by employer and sector. About 18% of mid level general ledger accountant openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, making this one of the more flexible roles in accounting. Companies with cloud-based ERP systems tend to offer the most location flexibility at this experience level.
How do I move up to a mid level general ledger accountant role?
The path from entry level into mid level is built on demonstrated ownership over time. Focus on taking full responsibility for assigned ledger areas, completing month-end close without prompting, and deepening your ERP proficiency. Accountants who document measurable accuracy improvements, spot and resolve reconciling items independently, and mentor newer staff tend to make this transition most smoothly.
Which industries hire the most mid level general ledger accountants?
Mid Level general ledger accountant roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Education, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to have complex, high-volume transaction flows that require experienced accountants who can manage ledger integrity without constant oversight.
