Financial Advisor Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial advisor in Washington?
To become a financial advisor in Washington, you must register with the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions and pass the required FINRA licensing exams, most commonly the Series 65 for investment adviser representatives or the Series 7 paired with Series 66 for broker-dealers. A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or accounting is the standard entry requirement at most firms, and the CFP designation significantly strengthens long-term career prospects in the state.
Which companies hire financial advisors in Washington?
Employers hiring financial advisors in Washington right now include Wealthbridge Financial, Bank of America, and Northwestern Mutual, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's high concentration of tech-sector employees and corporate headquarters in the greater Seattle area drives consistent demand for advisors who specialize in equity compensation planning and high-net-worth client services.
Which Washington cities have the most financial advisor jobs?
Seattle, Bellevue, and Kennewick have the most financial advisor openings in Washington. Seattle and Bellevue dominate because of the region's dense corporate headquarters, large tech workforce, and major financial services offices, while Spokane generates steady demand as the commercial and healthcare hub of eastern Washington, drawing both independent advisory practices and regional bank wealth management teams.
Are there remote financial advisor jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than many client-facing roles, since financial planning work increasingly takes place over video and digital planning tools. About 56% of financial advisor openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly firms have adopted virtual client service models. Roles focused on financial plan preparation, investment analysis, and ongoing client relationship management are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a financial advisor in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a financial advisor associate or client service associate role at a regional bank or national brokerage with a Washington branch, such as a firm operating through the Puget Sound or Spokane markets. Edward Jones runs a structured new-advisor development program that accepts candidates without prior finance experience. Completing the Series 65 exam before applying and obtaining the CFP candidacy status signals serious intent and gives candidates a concrete edge over other early-career applicants.
Where can I find and apply to financial advisor jobs in Washington?
