Financial Representative Jobs in Providence: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a financial representative job in Providence?
The strongest path into a financial representative role in Providence runs through the city's insurance carriers, independent broker-dealers, and community banks anchored in the Financial District and Jewelry District. Candidates who hold a Series 6 or Series 63 license stand out, but firms in the Atwells Avenue corridor and downtown also sponsor newly licensed reps. Networking through the Rhode Island Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors gives a real local edge.
Which companies hire financial representatives in Providence?
Employers hiring financial representatives in Providence right now include Gilbane, New York Life, and Brown University Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Providence's mix of regional insurers, credit unions, and wealth management boutiques means openings range from captive agent roles to fee-based planning positions.
Are there remote financial representative jobs in Providence?
Yes, though financial representative work skews toward in-person client contact, so fully remote roles are less common than in purely analytical fields. About 50% of financial representative openings tied to Providence are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated among roles focused on inside sales, service support, and financial planning rather than face-to-face advising. Downtown firms tend to offer the most hybrid flexibility.
How can I get a financial representative job in Providence with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Providence is a licensed customer service or associate representative role at one of the city's community banks or regional insurance offices, many of which train and sponsor licensing for candidates who show strong communication skills. Providence-area credit unions and mutual fund wholesalers also hire entry-level reps into rotational programs. A state insurance license or a completed college internship with a Providence financial firm meaningfully shortens the hiring timeline.
Which industries hire the most financial representatives in Providence?
The sectors hiring the most financial representatives in Providence are Insurance, Technology & Software, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Providence's role as a regional financial hub, anchored by its concentration of insurance headquarters and university-adjacent wealth management firms, keeps demand across those sectors consistently active.
