Finance Associate Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance associate in Rhode Island?
Most finance associate roles in Rhode Island require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field. Rhode Island does not require a state-issued license specifically to work as a finance associate in corporate or banking settings, but roles involving securities or investment advice may require FINRA Series licenses, which are federally administered. Candidates who pursue CFA or CPA credentials while in Rhode Island strengthen their competitiveness considerably, particularly at larger financial institutions in the Providence area.
Which companies hire finance associates in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island finance associate roles are posted by CVS Health, Citizens, and UNFI and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of insurance, banking, and asset management headquarters means that large, established employers with ongoing hiring needs drive a significant share of these openings year-round.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most finance associate jobs?
Providence, Rhode Island, and Johnston account for the most finance associate openings in Rhode Island. Providence dominates because it is home to corporate headquarters, major bank regional offices, and insurance companies, while Warwick and Cranston attract openings from back-office operations and mid-size financial services firms that have set up in the greater Providence suburban corridor.
Are there remote finance associate jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 60% of finance associate openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the largely desk-based and analytical nature of the work. Financial reporting, FP&A support, and reconciliation tasks are most commonly offered on a remote or hybrid basis, while roles requiring close collaboration with treasury or audit teams tend to be on-site.
How can I get hired as a finance associate in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a finance or accounting internship during your final year at a Rhode Island institution such as Bryant University, Providence College, or the University of Rhode Island, which have established recruiting pipelines with regional employers. Large Rhode Island employers like Citizens Financial Group and Amica Mutual run structured new-graduate programs that place candidates directly into associate-level rotations. Entry roles with titles like junior financial analyst, accounts payable analyst, or staff accountant serve as common lateral moves into a finance associate position, and candidates who hold or are pursuing a CPA or CFA Level I designation gain a clear edge.
