Financial Project Manager Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial project manager in Rhode Island?
Most financial project managers in Rhode Island enter the role through a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business, followed by several years in financial analysis or operations. Rhode Island does not require a state-issued license for this role, but employers consistently favor candidates who hold the Project Management Professional credential from PMI. Gaining experience within Providence's banking, insurance, or healthcare sectors is the most direct path to a senior position.
How much do financial project managers make in Rhode Island?
Financial project managers in Rhode Island earn a median of about $104,680 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,750 for the lowest 10% to over $170,050 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire financial project managers in Rhode Island?
Employers hiring financial project managers in Rhode Island right now include CVS Health, Bank of America, and Brown University Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of insurance carriers, regional banks, and large health systems means consistent demand for professionals who can bridge financial oversight with structured project delivery.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most financial project manager jobs?
Providence, Rhode Island, and Newport have the most financial project manager openings in Rhode Island. Providence dominates as the state's commercial and healthcare center, home to major insurers, financial institutions, and hospital networks, while Cranston and Warwick attract openings tied to corporate back-office operations and regional financial services firms clustered along the Route 2 corridor.
Are there remote financial project manager jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and more than most fields, since the work centers on reporting, planning, and stakeholder coordination that translates well to distributed teams. About 56% of financial project manager openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how the role has shifted since major Providence-area insurers and financial firms expanded their distributed workforce policies. The most remote-friendly tasks tend to be budget tracking, documentation, and vendor management.
How can I get hired as a financial project manager in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a financial analyst or project coordinator role at one of Rhode Island's large health systems or insurance carriers, where rotational programs and internal project exposure are common. Lifespan and Care New England have onboarded junior finance staff into project-adjacent roles, and regional banks often post associate-level positions that blend reporting with coordination duties. Earning a CAPM credential from PMI or completing a recognized project management certificate strengthens a candidate without prior PM experience significantly.
Where can I find and apply to financial project manager jobs in Rhode Island?
You can find and apply to financial project manager jobs in Rhode Island on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly without creating a profile or going through an intermediary step.
