General Maintenance Worker Jobs in Wyoming: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a general maintenance worker in Wyoming?
Most general maintenance workers in Wyoming enter the field directly with a high school diploma and on-the-job training, since the state does not require a specific statewide license for general maintenance work. Employers across Cheyenne, Casper, and energy-sector facilities often prefer candidates who have completed a vocational or trade program through Wyoming's community colleges, such as Laramie County Community College or Casper College, where courses cover electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC fundamentals. Earning an OSHA safety card strengthens any application considerably.
Which companies hire general maintenance workers in Wyoming?
Companies currently hiring general maintenance workers in Wyoming include US Department of Veterans Affairs, State of Wyoming, and Ivinson Memorial Hospital, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Wyoming's energy, hospitality, and public infrastructure sectors are consistently among the most active sources of full-time maintenance openings across the state.
Which Wyoming cities have the most general maintenance worker jobs?
Laramie, Casper, and Sheridan lead Wyoming in general maintenance worker openings. Cheyenne drives volume as the state capital with large government facilities and growing logistics infrastructure, Casper anchors the energy sector with oil-field service companies and industrial plants requiring steady maintenance crews, and Jackson's year-round resort economy at properties like Jackson Hole Mountain Resort generates consistent demand for skilled facility and grounds maintenance workers.
Are there remote general maintenance worker jobs in Wyoming?
Yes, but they're rare. General maintenance work is inherently hands-on and tied to physical sites, so most positions require an on-site presence. About 11% of general maintenance worker openings tied to Wyoming are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to cover scheduling, maintenance coordination, or facilities management oversight rather than direct repair work.
How can I get hired as a general maintenance worker in Wyoming with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a maintenance helper or custodial technician role with Wyoming's larger institutional employers, such as state agencies, school districts, or county facilities departments, which regularly hire entry-level staff and provide on-the-job trade training. Casper College and Laramie County Community College both offer short-term facilities maintenance certificates that give candidates a concrete credential. Lateral moves from janitorial, groundskeeping, or warehouse roles are common, and holding even a basic OSHA 10 card gives a first-time applicant a visible edge over other entry-level candidates.
Where can I find and apply to general maintenance worker jobs in Wyoming?
