Entry Level General Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level general manager job?
Entry level general manager roles typically look for candidates who can show leadership in any context, whether through a campus organization, internship, retail supervisory shift, or volunteer coordination. Emphasize operational thinking, team communication, and any experience managing a process or group. A business-related degree helps, but demonstrated ownership of outcomes at any scale gives you a real edge at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level general managers?
Companies hiring entry level general managers right now include Walmart, Advance Auto Parts, and Crunch Fitness, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Retail chains, hospitality groups, franchise operators, and fast-growing regional businesses tend to build entry level management pipelines more actively than other employer types.
Are there remote entry level general manager jobs?
Yes, though most general manager roles at the entry level are on-site by nature. About 1% of entry level general manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to appear in operations coordination, district support, or multi-unit oversight roles where day-to-day floor presence is less central to the job.
Are these new grad general manager jobs?
Yes, many of these listings are new grad and junior roles that explicitly welcome recent graduates with limited professional experience. A new grad-friendly posting typically lists zero to two years of experience as sufficient, accepts internship or campus leadership in place of full-time work history, and treats a relevant degree or portfolio as a qualifying credential on its own.
Which industries hire the most entry level general managers?
Entry Level general manager roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Retail, and Automotive, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to hire at the entry level because they run high-volume, location-based operations that require on-the-ground management and offer structured paths for developing new managers quickly.
