Entry Level Geneticist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level geneticist job?
Entry level geneticist roles typically look for candidates with a bachelor's or master's degree in genetics, molecular biology, or a related life science, plus hands-on lab experience gained through internships, undergraduate research, or coursework. Familiarity with techniques like PCR, DNA sequencing, or CRISPR gives candidates a clear edge. A well-documented research project or lab portfolio can strengthen an application even without full-time work history.
Which companies hire entry level geneticists?
Companies hiring entry level geneticists right now include Nemours, ALTA GENETICS, and Sanford Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of biotechnology firms, pharmaceutical companies, academic medical centers, and government research agencies, all of which regularly onboard junior scientists for research support and laboratory roles.
Are there remote entry level geneticist jobs?
Yes, though most geneticist roles at the entry level are lab-based and on-site. About 0% of entry level geneticist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to focus on bioinformatics, data analysis, or scientific writing rather than bench work. Candidates with computational biology skills are best positioned for those remote opportunities.
Are these new grad geneticist jobs?
Yes, the listings on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior geneticist roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or research assistant work in place of full-time history, or explicitly invites candidates with a degree and a strong academic or lab portfolio to apply.
Which industries hire the most entry level geneticists?
Entry Level geneticist roles concentrate in Education, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026.
