About the Team
The Financial Operations (FinOps) team at Nomad powers the core of our business: guaranteed owner payments. FinOps works closely with customer success, sales, engineering, product, and other teams across the org to deliver our mission of unlocking economic opportunity for everyone in the long-term rental community. As our company grows and changes, so do our procedures. As part of this team, you'll partner with our Finance Operations team to develop those processes and witness the real-time impact they have on Nomad.
About the Role
We're looking for a Bookkeeping Operations Specialist who's excited to support Nomad's day-to-day operational accounting and who gets energized, not rattled, when processes change. Our systems, workflows, and priorities evolve constantly as we grow, and we need someone who can hold real accounting fundamentals in one hand and genuine comfort with ambiguity in the other. If you've only ever worked in one system, one process, one way of doing things, this probably isn't your role. But if you're a person with a desire for an unconventional path in accounting, who picks up new tools fast, and who'd rather build the process than just follow it, we want to talk to you!
In the Role, You'll
- Conduct day-to-day bookkeeping in AppFolio, including rent advances, check processing, and security deposit returns
- Handle internal accounting requests (issuing concessions, refunding tenants, etc.)
- Respond to owner and tenant accounting inquiries
- Assist with move-outs, delinquencies, owner payments, and bank reconciliations
- Use reports to investigate financial discrepancies
- Improve bookkeeping accuracy and help evolve our processes as we scale
Who You Are
Experience: We care more about what you can actually do than how many years you've clocked. That could look like a couple of years of hands-on small-business or freelance bookkeeping, a longer stretch of customer-facing work paired with self-taught accounting skills, or something in between.
Required skills:
- General accounting/bookkeeping literacy
- High attention to detail, particularly as it relates to numbers
- Nimbleness: genuine comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities
- Critical thinking to problem-solve operational issues and evolve processes
- An ability to prioritize and handle multiple requests in a fast-paced environment
- A deep curiosity to ask questions, learn new things, and be open to feedback
- Comfortable using AI and other resources to research answers and self-direct
Some software experience that would be a plus:
- Property management software (AppFolio, Buildium, Yardi, etc.)
- AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)
- GSuite software (specifically Google Sheets)
- Accounting or bookkeeping software (QuickBooks, BILL, Stripe, etc.)
- CRM experience (HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.)
Bonus prior work experience:
- Start-up environment experience
- Property management experience
- Customer service experience
- Bookkeeper, Collections Specialist, Associate Banker, or similar
Where You'll Be
This is a hybrid position and you would need to come to our downtown Denver office 3 times a week, or more if you like! We are surrounded by other tech companies, coffee shops, breweries, and restaurants.
Potential pay range: $28 – $36 / hour
Our Values:
- Nomads Build Community: We foster genuine relationships and act as dependable stewards of our community.
- One Percent Better Every Day: We are always learning, taking small, deliberate actions to continuously improve.
- Mission Before Ourselves: We’re a championship team driven to make our customers’ lives better.
- Act From Ownership: We roll up our sleeves, solve problems proactively, and take responsibility for our work.
- Dream Without Boundaries: We challenge the status quo and strive to achieve the extraordinary.
Benefits at Nomad
We believe in supporting our team with benefits that enhance your life, both inside and outside of work.
- Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance Plans: Comprehensive coverage to keep you and your family healthy.
- Team Bonding Outings and Volunteer Days: Opportunities to connect and give back to the community.
- Dog-Friendly Office: Because we know pets are family too!
- Paid Company Holidays
- Company Equity: Become a part owner of Nomad and share in our success.
- Short-Term & Long-Term Disability: Supporting you when life throws curveballs.
- MacBook: Plus, an equipment budget to set you up for success.
- Sick, Parental, and Generous Paid Time Off: Work-life balance matters to us.
- Anniversary Rewards: Celebrate milestones with rewards ranging from paid yearly events to a 4-week sabbatical.
- Discounted Employee Brokerage Rates: Helping you buy or sell a home with ease.
Compensation Transparency
At Nomad, we are committed to offering competitive compensation that reflects the value each team member brings to our mission. Salary ranges for this role are determined based on factors such as experience, skills, location, and role expectations. Final offers may vary from the posted range, ensuring fair and equitable consideration for every candidate.

Translate your credentials before applying
Foreign accounting diplomas and transcripts need official evaluation before PERM documentation begins. Get a credential assessment from a NACES-member agency so your education aligns with the U.S. bachelor's-degree equivalency that most EB-3 Accounting Clerk filings require.
Search DOL PERM data for sponsoring employers
The DOL's OFLC disclosure files list every employer that filed a PERM labor certification for Accounting Clerk roles. Filter by SOC code 43-3031 to find companies that have sponsored this exact position, not just general finance or accounting roles.
Find green-card-sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by green card sponsorship history so you're applying to employers who already file employment-based petitions. Search by role and location to identify Accounting Clerk openings with active PERM filing patterns before you spend time on applications.
Confirm the employer runs an active E-Verify account
PERM-based sponsorship requires the employer to conduct a DOL-mandated recruitment process. Employers already enrolled in E-Verify signal familiarity with federal hiring compliance, which correlates with smoother PERM filings compared to first-time sponsors navigating the process.
Negotiate sponsorship terms before accepting an offer
Ask the employer directly whether they'll cover PERM legal fees and I-140 filing costs. Many Accounting Clerk sponsors do, but not all put it in the offer letter by default. Get the commitment in writing before your start date, not after.
Understand EB-3 priority dates if you're from a backlogged country
India and China nationals face multi-year waits due to EB-3 per-country caps. Check the USCIS Visa Bulletin monthly for your priority date cutoff. Filing I-485 adjustment of status depends entirely on your date being current, so track this from day one.
Green Card Accounting Clerk: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Accounting Clerk role qualify for green card sponsorship?
Yes. Accounting Clerk positions fall under SOC code 43-3031 and qualify for EB-3 sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process. The employer must advertise the role, demonstrate no qualified U.S. worker is available, and then file a PERM application with the DOL before petitioning USCIS with Form I-140.
How is green card sponsorship different from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B visa sponsorship is temporary, subject to an annual lottery cap, and requires the role to meet specialty occupation standards, which many Accounting Clerk positions don't satisfy. Green card sponsorship through EB-3 is permanent, has no lottery, and is focused on the PERM recruitment process rather than degree-level job complexity. The trade-off is a longer overall timeline, often two to four years or more depending on your country.
What documents should I prepare before a PERM-based employer interview?
Bring a credential evaluation confirming your foreign accounting degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's, copies of transcripts translated into English, and any relevant certifications such as bookkeeping or payroll credentials. Employers initiating PERM filings need to document your qualifications as part of the DOL recruitment record, so having these ready speeds up the process on their end.
How do I find Accounting Clerk jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for Accounting Clerk roles where employers have a history of filing employment-based petitions. Most general job boards don't filter by sponsorship type, so you'd otherwise need to manually cross-reference OFLC PERM disclosure data with active listings, which is time-consuming and often outdated by the time you find a match.
Can I qualify for EB-2 instead of EB-3 as an Accounting Clerk?
EB-2 is possible if the role genuinely requires an advanced degree, such as a master's in accounting or finance, and the employer can document that requirement as a business necessity. Most Accounting Clerk postings are classified at the bachelor's level or below, which puts them squarely in EB-3 territory. Candidates with an MBA or CPA credentials in an advanced-scope role may have a viable EB-2 argument worth discussing with a qualified immigration attorney.
