Certified Respiratory Therapist Green Card Jobs
Certified Respiratory Therapist roles qualify for EB-3 skilled worker sponsorship, and strong candidates with a bachelor's degree or clinical leadership experience may meet EB-2 criteria. Employers file PERM labor certification with DOL before submitting your I-140 petition, putting you on a path to permanent residency rather than a temporary work authorization cycle.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Certified Respiratory Therapist
Target hospital systems with PERM filing history
Large health systems and academic medical centers file PERM petitions regularly for allied health roles. Search Migrate Mate to filter Certified Respiratory Therapist positions specifically by employers with active green card sponsorship history, not just visa transfer willingness.
Confirm state licensure before the PERM audit stage
DOL requires your employer to document that you meet the minimum qualifications at PERM filing. If your state RRT license is pending, the employer's PERM application can stall. Secure your state license before the recruitment window closes.
Ask employers whether they sponsor EB-2 or EB-3
Most respiratory therapist roles fall under EB-3 skilled worker, but critical care or leadership positions may support an EB-2 filing if the role requires an advanced degree. Clarify which category the employer intends to file under before accepting an offer.
Use OFLC Wage Search to benchmark your offer
PERM requires your offered wage to meet the DOL prevailing wage for your specific SOC code and geographic area. Run your job title and work location through OFLC Wage Search to confirm the offer covers at least the Level I or Level II prevailing wage before signing.
Account for priority date backlogs in your timeline
Applicants born in India or China face priority date retrogression even at EB-3. Check the monthly Visa Bulletin from USCIS to understand current wait times for your birth country before committing to an employer's sponsorship timeline.

Find Certified Respiratory Therapist JobsCertified Respiratory Therapist Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Certified Respiratory Therapist roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Certified Respiratory Therapist positions qualify under EB-3 skilled worker, which requires at least two years of training or experience and a full-time permanent job offer. Roles with supervisory duties or research responsibilities tied to a master's degree or higher may qualify under EB-2, which requires demonstrating an advanced degree or its equivalent through progressive professional experience.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for respiratory therapists?
An H-1B is a temporary status renewed in three-year increments with no path to permanency on its own. PERM sponsorship is a multi-step process, starting with DOL labor certification, then I-140 approval, and finally adjustment of status or consular processing, resulting in permanent residency. There is no annual lottery for EB-3, and processing, though longer overall, doesn't reset each fiscal year.
How long does the PERM green card process take for a respiratory therapist position?
The PERM stage alone typically runs six to eighteen months, including the employer's mandatory recruitment period and DOL processing. After PERM approval, I-140 adjudication adds several more months. For applicants born in most countries outside India and China, adjustment of status or immigrant visa processing follows once a visa number becomes available, often without a long wait at the EB-3 level.
How can I find Certified Respiratory Therapist jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Certified Respiratory Therapist roles filtered by employers with documented EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship history. Most general job boards don't surface PERM filing data, so sorting by green card sponsorship specifically saves you from applying to positions where the employer hasn't committed to permanent sponsorship and may only offer H-1B transfers.
Can my employer start the PERM process while I'm on an H-1B or other work visa?
Yes. Employers frequently file PERM while you hold H-1B, TN, or O-1 status. Concurrent filing doesn't affect your current authorization. Once your I-140 is approved, you can use AC21 portability after 180 days if you need to change employers, as long as the new role is in the same or similar occupational classification as the approved petition.
