A well-established and highly respected General Contractor with a strong portfolio of complex projects across Florida is seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead and continue developing its preconstruction and estimating operations. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for a construction professional with a proven track record overseeing large estimating teams, driving preconstruction excellence, and delivering accurate budgets on some of the region's most notable high-rise, education, and healthcare projects.
Location: Miami
Relocation: Considered; however, preference will be given to candidates with strong knowledge of the South Florida construction market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a high-performing estimating department of 8+ estimators.
- Establish estimating strategies, procedures, and best practices to support continued company growth.
- Oversee conceptual estimating, budgeting, bidding, value engineering, and risk assessment initiatives.
- Develop and maintain subcontractor scope sheets and trade partner relationships.
- Collaborate closely with executive leadership, operations teams, project executives, and project managers.
- Lead owner presentations, contract negotiations, and preconstruction meetings.
- Assign workloads, mentor estimating staff, and support succession planning within the department.
- Contribute to the strategic growth and long-term direction of the preconstruction function.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of construction industry experience.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years serving as a Chief Estimator or Preconstruction Director with a General Contractor.
- Experience leading and managing an estimating department consisting of 8+ estimators.
Project Experience Requirements
High-Rise Residential / Condominium Projects
- Minimum 4 high-rise condo projects ranging from 30 to 60 stories.
- Minimum 4 high-rise projects valued between $90M and $240M+.
- Experience with deep foundations and DSM (Deep Soil Mixing) highly preferred.
Education
- Higher Education projects ranging from $50M to $100M+.
- K-12 Education projects within similar project values.
Healthcare
- Healthcare construction experience ranging from $4M to $70M+.
Delivery Method Experience
- CM at Risk
- Design-Build
- IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) preferred
Technical & Leadership Experience
