Green Card Commercial Director Jobs
Commercial Director roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship when the position requires an advanced degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Employers file a PERM labor certification with DOL before sponsoring your I-140 petition, putting you on a path to permanent residency rather than a renewable visa cycle.

National Grid lies at the heart of a transforming energy system, spanning the US and UK. Our businesses supply gas and electricity, safely, reliably and efficiently to millions of customers and communities. But we also drive change through engineering innovation and by incubating new ideas with the power to revolutionize our industry.
National Grid Ventures (NGV) is the competitive division of National Grid plc, one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the world. It operates outside of National Grid’s core regulated businesses in the US and UK where it develops, operates and invests in energy projects, technologies and partnerships to accelerate the development of our clean energy future.
National Grid Ventures’ diverse portfolio of energy businesses across the US, UK and Europe includes sub-sea electricity interconnectors, liquefied natural gas, battery storage, as well as conventional generation assets on Long Island.
National Grid Ventures is hiring a Commercial Director, LNG & Gas Supply to lead the commercial strategy for its Providence LNG business and to develop the gas supply and commercial frameworks for potential new generation projects serving existing and future customers. This hybrid position can sit in either our Boston, MA, Waltham, MA, or Brooklyn, NY office.
Job Purpose
National Grid Ventures owns and operates Providence LNG, a critical LNG peak shaver with storage, vaporization, and liquefaction facilities, which provides essential winter reliability for gas customers across New England. NGV also seeks to advance new generation to serve rapidly growing demand on the electricity grid — including data centers — through utility-scale gas generation and integrated power solutions across multiple US markets.
The Commercial Director, LNG & Gas Supply will serve as the senior commercial leader across two strategic areas:

- Gas supply — Leading gas supply strategy, procurement, and commercial structuring for new-build generation projects, including fuel supply agreements, pipeline transportation, and commercial arrangements that underpin project economics.
This role requires a leader with deep commercial judgment, regulatory sophistication, and the ability to operate in an agile environment at both a strategic and transactional level. The Commercial Director will represent NGV in regulatory proceedings, lead high-stakes negotiations with customers and counterparties, and shape commercial frameworks for a growing portfolio. This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer of NGV US.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Commercial Director
Frame your credentials for PERM requirements
PERM requires your degree and experience to match the advertised job duties precisely. Document any advanced business degree, revenue targets you've owned, and P&L responsibility now, before an employer drafts the job description around your background.
Target employers with dedicated immigration infrastructure
Commercial Director roles sit at the senior level where many firms self-sponsor through in-house legal teams. Prioritize mid-to-large corporations in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, or technology, where HR teams routinely file EB-2 and EB-3 petitions for senior commercial hires.
Search sponsored openings through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Commercial Director roles by employers with active green card filing history. This narrows your search to companies already familiar with PERM timelines, reducing the time you spend educating hiring managers about the sponsorship process.
Clarify the EB-2 versus EB-3 path early
If you hold a master's degree or can demonstrate a bachelor's plus five years of progressive commercial leadership, push for EB-2 classification. EB-2 typically moves faster for many nationalities and skips the extensive prevailing-wage recruitment steps required under EB-3.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
DOL must certify your offered salary meets the prevailing wage for your geographic area and SOC code. Use the OFLC Wage Search and your O*NET occupation profile to confirm the wage tier before you enter salary negotiations with a prospective employer.
Negotiate concurrent I-485 filing into your offer timeline
If your priority date is current when the I-140 is approved, ask your employer to support concurrent filing of your I-485 adjustment of status. This collapses months of waiting and lets you secure an EAD and advance parole while the green card is pending.
Green Card Commercial Director: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Commercial Director role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Commercial Director positions can qualify under both categories. EB-2 applies when the role requires an advanced degree or you have a bachelor's degree plus substantial progressive experience in commercial leadership. EB-3 covers the role as a skilled position requiring at least a bachelor's degree. Your employer works with an immigration attorney to determine the appropriate category before filing the PERM labor certification with DOL.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for a Commercial Director?
The green card process through PERM and I-140 leads to permanent residency, not a temporary status requiring renewal every few years. Unlike the H-1B visa, there is no annual lottery for EB-2 or EB-3 petitions, and once your employer files the PERM application, your priority date is locked in. The tradeoff is a longer overall timeline, often two to four years or more for some nationalities, compared to a direct H-1B approval.
What does the PERM labor certification process look like for this role?
Your employer must conduct a DOL-supervised recruitment process, including job postings and good-faith efforts to hire a qualified U.S. worker. If no qualified domestic candidate is found, DOL certifies the PERM application. For a Commercial Director, the job description must specify degree and experience requirements that genuinely reflect the role, since DOL audits senior-level petitions more frequently than entry-level filings.
How can I find Commercial Director jobs where the employer is already open to green card sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Commercial Director openings filtered by employers with documented green card filing activity. This focuses your applications on companies that have already navigated PERM and I-140 filings, which shortens the education process with HR and reduces the risk that a willing employer backs out mid-process due to unfamiliarity with the timeline or costs.
Can I change employers after my I-140 is approved without losing my priority date?
Yes. Under AC21 portability rules, once your I-140 has been approved for 180 days and your I-485 adjustment of status is pending, you can move to a same or similar occupational role without losing your priority date. For Commercial Director candidates, USCIS evaluates whether the new role falls within the same SOC code or a closely related commercial leadership function, so document any job change carefully with your attorney.
