Green Card Driver Jobs
Driver roles can qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, where your employer files with DOL to prove no qualified U.S. worker is available. Commercial licensing, endorsements, and clean driving records strengthen your sponsorship case with U.S. trucking, logistics, and transit employers.

Document your CDL endorsements before applying
Gather your Commercial Driver's License, all endorsements (hazmat, tanker, double/triple), and any foreign driving credentials. USCIS and DOL reviewers expect your qualifications to match the PERM job description precisely, so gaps in documentation slow certification.
Target carriers enrolled in E-Verify
Trucking and logistics companies enrolled in E-Verify are already set up to verify work authorization, which signals readiness to sponsor foreign workers through PERM. Prioritize fleets, transit agencies, and freight operators with active E-Verify participation.
Search open positions using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Driver openings by employers with green card sponsorship history. This cuts the time you'd otherwise spend cold-contacting carriers who have never filed a PERM labor certification for this role.
Clarify the job description matches your license class
Before PERM is filed, confirm the employer's job description specifies your exact CDL class and endorsements. A mismatch between what DOL approves and what you actually hold can derail your I-140 petition at the USCIS review stage.
Understand the EB-3 timeline for your nationality
EB-3 sponsorship has no annual lottery, but the priority date queue varies by birth country. Check the USCIS Visa Bulletin to understand your realistic wait before accepting an offer contingent on green card sponsorship.
Use OFLC Wage Search to benchmark prevailing wages
DOL requires your employer to pay the prevailing wage for your specific Driver role and location. Run a search on OFLC Wage Search to verify the wage level they're offering before PERM is submitted, not after.
Green Card Driver: Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Driver role qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Yes. Driver positions, particularly those requiring a Commercial Driver's License, specialized endorsements, or verifiable experience, regularly qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers. The employer must complete PERM labor certification through DOL, demonstrating that no qualified U.S. worker was available for the position before sponsoring a foreign national.
How does EB-3 green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for Driver roles?
H-1B visa requires a specialty occupation typically tied to a bachelor's degree, which most Driver roles don't meet. EB-3 is designed for skilled workers and has no annual lottery. The trade-off is timeline: the full PERM, I-140, and adjustment of status process can take several years depending on your nationality and priority date.
What documents should I prepare to support a Driver green card application?
You'll need your CDL with all applicable endorsements, a clean motor vehicle record, proof of any required medical certification, and evidence of relevant employment history. If you hold foreign driving credentials, obtain certified translations and any equivalency documentation before your employer begins the PERM filing process with DOL.
Where can I find employers who sponsor green cards for Driver positions?
Migrate Mate lets you search Driver openings specifically filtered by employers with employment-based green card sponsorship history. This is more reliable than applying broadly, since most carriers and logistics companies don't advertise PERM sponsorship willingness in standard job postings.
Does the employer pay the PERM and green card filing fees for Driver sponsorship?
PERM labor certification fees are the employer's legal obligation under DOL rules. The employer typically covers the PERM filing and I-140 petition costs. Adjustment of status filing fees are generally the employee's responsibility, though some employers negotiate to cover them as part of the offer package.
