Farm Worker Green Card Jobs
Farm Worker roles can qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires your employer to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. Agricultural employers with seasonal labor shortages regularly sponsor foreign nationals, making this a practical path to permanent residency.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Farm Worker
Document your agricultural work history thoroughly
PERM requires proving you meet the job's stated requirements before the employer files. Gather wage stubs, supervisor letters, and training certificates that confirm your hands-on crop, livestock, or equipment experience in the specific commodities your target employer grows.
Target employers already enrolled in E-Verify
Agricultural employers who use E-Verify have existing compliance infrastructure, which signals they're prepared for the documentation demands PERM requires. Prioritize farms and agribusinesses that hire year-round rather than purely seasonal operations, since PERM sponsorship requires a permanent, full-time position.
Search sponsored farm worker openings on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by green card sponsorship history, so you can identify agricultural employers who have previously filed PERM applications for Farm Worker roles rather than applying broadly and hoping sponsorship is possible.
Understand how the PERM prevailing wage affects your offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your county and job classification. Check the OFLC Wage Search before accepting an offer to confirm the listed wage meets or exceeds the Level I or Level II threshold for your specific agricultural role and location.
Align your O*NET job zone with the employer's PERM job description
Farm Worker roles span multiple O*NET occupational codes with different education and experience requirements. Ask your employer which SOC code they plan to use for the PERM filing so your documented credentials match what DOL will review during the audit process.
Request a clear PERM timeline before accepting a job offer
PERM recruitment and DOL review together typically take 12 to 24 months before USCIS even begins processing the I-140 petition. Confirm your employer has legal counsel engaged and a realistic sponsorship timeline so you're not in an uncertain status gap.

Find Farm Worker JobsFarm Worker Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Farm Worker role qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Yes. Farm Worker positions routinely qualify under the EB-3 skilled worker or unskilled worker categories, depending on the specific duties and the employer's job requirements. The employer files a PERM labor certification with DOL to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available, then files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Permanent, full-time positions are required.
How does EB-3 green card sponsorship differ from H-2A for farm workers?
H-2A is a temporary agricultural visa with no path to permanent residency and must be renewed each season. EB-3 green card sponsorship leads to lawful permanent residency, carries no annual cap concerns for most nationalities at the EB-3 unskilled or skilled worker level, and does not require you to leave the U.S. at the end of a contract. The tradeoff is a longer overall timeline, typically two to four years from PERM filing to a green card.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for agricultural employers?
The employer must conduct a supervised recruitment process, including job postings, to show no qualified U.S. workers applied. DOL reviews the recruitment results and either certifies or audits the application. Only after PERM is certified can the employer file Form I-140 with USCIS on your behalf. The entire PERM stage currently takes 12 to 18 months on average before USCIS processing begins.
How do I find agricultural employers who sponsor green cards?
Most farm employers don't advertise green card sponsorship in job postings, so searching standard job boards yields limited results. Migrate Mate identifies employers with a documented history of PERM filings for Farm Worker and related agricultural roles, letting you focus your applications on operations that have already committed to sponsoring foreign nationals rather than employers who may be unfamiliar with the process.
Does my immigration status affect my ability to start a PERM-sponsored farm job?
You can work for a sponsoring employer while your PERM and I-140 are pending, as long as you maintain valid work authorization through a separate visa category such as H-2A, TN, or another status. Once your I-140 is approved and a visa number becomes available, you file for adjustment of status with USCIS to obtain your green card without needing to leave the country.
