Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Finance Manager
Document your credentials before applying
Gather official transcripts, degree evaluations, and CPA or CFA certifications before you approach employers. PERM requires your qualifications to match the job requirements exactly, and gaps in credential documentation are a common reason I-140 petitions get delayed.
Target employers with active PERM history
Search the DOL PERM disclosure data for companies that have sponsored Finance Manager roles before. Prior filings signal that an employer understands the OFLC process and has internal HR or legal resources already set up to manage it.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Filter Finance Manager openings by green card sponsorship history using Migrate Mate. This saves you from applying to roles where sponsorship is theoretically possible but the employer has no real intention or infrastructure to follow through.
Clarify the EB-2 versus EB-3 track early
Ask the hiring manager whether the role is being classified under EB-2 or EB-3 before you receive an offer. Finance Manager roles typically require a bachelor's degree, which fits EB-3, but an advanced degree or NIW eligibility can shift your case to EB-2 with a shorter backlog for some nationalities.
Understand the PERM recruitment timeline
PERM requires the employer to complete a DOL-prescribed recruitment campaign before filing, which typically takes three to six months. Factor this into your start date negotiations so both sides have realistic expectations about when your green card process actually begins.
Verify the prevailing wage before accepting an offer
Look up the DOL prevailing wage for your specific Finance Manager title and work location using the OFLC Wage Search. Your offered salary must meet or exceed that figure for USCIS to approve the I-140, so confirming this before signing protects you from delays later.

Find Finance Manager JobsFinance Manager Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Finance Manager role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Finance Manager positions qualify under EB-3, which covers professionals with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field like accounting, finance, or economics. If the employer requires a master's degree or MBA as a minimum qualification, the role may meet the EB-2 advanced-degree standard. Your specific degree, the job description, and how the employer files the PERM labor certification together determine which category applies.
How does the green card process differ from H-1B sponsorship for Finance Managers?
H-1B sponsorship is temporary and subject to an annual lottery, while the green card process through PERM and I-140 leads to permanent residency with no annual cap at the petition level. The tradeoff is time: PERM alone takes several months before USCIS even receives the I-140. For nationals from India or China, priority date backlogs in the EB-3 category can extend the total wait significantly, though the outcome is permanent rather than a renewable status.
What does the PERM labor certification process require from a Finance Manager employer?
The employer must conduct a DOL-prescribed recruitment campaign to demonstrate that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. This includes job postings, newspaper advertisements, and internal notices over a set period. The employer then files the PERM application with DOL's OFLC. You cannot self-petition through PERM; the employer drives the entire process, and the job duties and minimum requirements on the PERM application must match your actual role.
How can I find Finance Manager jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Start by searching for employers with a documented history of sponsoring Finance Manager roles through PERM. Migrate Mate lets you filter Finance Manager openings by employment-based green card sponsorship history, so you can focus on companies that have completed the process before and have the infrastructure to do it again. Avoid relying on job postings that mention sponsorship without any verifiable filing history behind them.
Can I switch employers while my green card application is in progress?
Once your I-140 has been approved and your priority date is current or within 180 days of your I-485 being filed, portability rules allow you to change to a similar role in the same or a related occupation without restarting the green card process. Finance Manager roles generally port well to comparable management or analyst positions. Changing employers before the I-140 is approved requires your new employer to restart the PERM process from the beginning.
